Weekend 3 - 5 Sep
« on: September 03, 2015, 10:51:40 PM »
the clock will soon hit friday here so I guess I'll throw up this thread instead of being super late on the previous weekend thread ;D

a bit of a mixed bag from me since I'm getting a lot of films scanned at the same time. either way, glad to be able to share something again :)

Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

And they're off!  A wonderfully colorful monochromatic mix to start the weekend.

My theme this week is expired film.  Some Agfa XPS 160 in the Yashica 44 and a b&w shot on Efke 100 in 5x7 (on the Burke & James).  BTW, I have retired batch #1 of the Unicolor C-41 chems after 33 rolls.  It wasn't totally done but the last test strip was disturbingly pale.

Well this is a superlative weekend thread so far :) I especially like all the color shots this week for some reason ;) Speaking of which, I have to start scanning a roll of E100SW I just dev'd :D I tried to shoot this roll at 100 in daylight and 50 in shade/low light as recco'd by Peter, since my last rolls came out way overexposed at ISO50.

I need to spend more time in Greenwich park instead of the more "famous" ones. I like that big hill and the views it offers  8) Also like the fact that the grounds are NOT immaculately maintained.

Actually I was out with scapevision and ran into a movie shoot. They have been filming Suicide Squad around Toronto for weeks now. I was going to guess that these were 8K lights but they could of well been 10's. I never got close enough to ask. They are usually pretty snobby around sets. We were told to leave from the hill scapevision took his first shot from, even though were were away and unobtrusive to the set.

Yeah you're right Sandeha! 10 sheet for around £50, compared to B&W which can range from £35 to £55 for 25 sheets

great stuff everyone. I really laughed my ass of when I read the tittle of Jonas' 3rd photo. Nice one!

My shot is a little bit more ordinary, two weeks ago the tallest sail cruise ship sailed in to Vlissingen port, time to take some shot's of course. Took the RB67 and some expired velvia 50, had it send out but came back with a little too much magenta, so made it a little more natural blue in Gimp.
Was trying out a grad ND filter but not sure that was what has caused it. Also did a 9600 dpi scan, came in at 111mb that's some serious resolution, not sure what to use it for though....  ???

Had something similar happen to me. They were filming a short scene for the TV film cyberbully on our street and I took some pics of it. They pretty quickly told me to stop shooting because they said the mike would get my Nikon's shutter slap and winding sounds. In the end it turned out that the scene was just an old jeep wrangler driving down the street at breakneck speed and they only used something like three seconds of it in the movie...

Andreas: you sail? I've been wanting to learn how to sail for quite a while now. I have a couple of friends who are expert sailors, and they've taken me out sailing and shown me the ropes (or should I say sheets? :D ), however, I only get to go out onto the water once or maybe twice a year, so my learning curve and retention rates are pretty pathetic :( Some day, some day...

Here's my contribution. Please read the Flickr description on what speed to shoot Ektachrome. The "friend" referred to is none other than Peter Hookstrapped, and the advice applies primarily to E100VS, although I've found very similar results on E100SW and E100S as well.

Great show from everybody, I love Jonas' yellyfishes.

Had a nice meeting with a charming young singer-songwriter last week when it was still very hot. The first one is done with my homemade meniscus lens for 35mm film and the second one with my very first own camera, a Kodak Instamatic 50, on Ferrania Solaris 200.

The first time I only used lo-fi gear for an eleborate shooting.

Super Cambo 4x5

Taking the LF camera to the street can be tricky. I know people who set up the 4x5 close to a street and got the finger or rude shouted comments from a lot of drivers passing by because the took the camera for a speed trap.
