Photo Locations
« on: November 17, 2014, 12:33:48 PM »
I was looking for good locations to take some trips with a camera and came across this site:

http://www.shothotspot.com/

I think it nabs locations from Flickr and Panoramio (which I've never heard of) and then shows anything near a location you are asking for. I suspect it isn't perfect, but a good start at least. 12 minutes from my work there's an abandoned and derelict manor house, so I shall be visiting there this week hopefully.

Panoramio I believe is also used on Google Earth.

That could be useful, I often use Google Earth to search for locations.

I've been adding photos to Panoramio for several years now:  http://www.panoramio.com/user/253362.  The photos come up on Google Earth.  I think it's a great way to document the places that I travel to.  I also map many of my photos on Flickr.

I will say the maps on Flickr have gotten better, but nothing beats the detail of Google Earth.
