Aculux alternative
« on: September 13, 2014, 08:33:02 AM »
I'm coming to the end of my last Aculux and as Paterson stopped selling it a year or more ago it's time to find an alternative.

Anyone already made the switch or any suggestions for a similar developer?

It is o good at fine grain whilst not losing film speed ... I'm no sure there is another that is the same? Maybe xtol? I don't known if that is even available still. Perceptol will give the fine grain, but you will lose speed.

What bums me about Paterson is that their MSDS is basically a joke. They don't even say what chemicals are used in it. If we had this information, we could guestimate some potential replacement...

If you look at my heaven in Hayle thread you will see some bottles of Aculux on the shelf about 4 or 5 bottles

I think they must be getting to the end of their shelf life by now.

I've just bought some FD10 to try.

I think unopened shelf life is about a year, but not sure, and once opened about three months.
