London Analogue Festival 2014
« on: August 24, 2014, 06:30:47 PM »
Hi everyone!
Time for me to get back into film wasters...
Just wanted to bring to everyones attention that the London Analogue festival is back this year! Thought it might be an opportunity to organise some sort of meet up to go round and enjoy the photography. Its all film and i had a great time last year.

To find out some more about my experience with the festival, heres a wee writeup http://coveman.co.uk/photography/analogue-festival/london-analogue-festival-2014/

and the website http://www.analoguefestival.com

Thanks, and i really hope we can arrange to meet up for some filmwasting!

As it stands, Lara (my missus) and I are free. Always happy to have a wander into town to meet up, have a beer and see an exhibition. Saturday or Sunday would be best for us....

OK - time to bump this up the pile.

Zapsnaps and Coveman - are you both still up for this??

Sunday (14th) is the day we'd be able to make it and, subject to the vagaries of "Greater Anglia" train services (incidentally, I have no idea what they're "Greater" than - apart, perhaps, from an Ebola epidemic) we can be at the venue around 11:00am.

It's be great to meet up but absolutely no pressure.

Hi guys,
I am actually working at the festival all week (its looking good!) unfortunately i have to leave to Ireland on saturday so wont be around to meet up after that, if anyone is around on friday or saturday there's lots of analogue artists to mingle and meet with.

Theres actually a facebook event organised now https://www.facebook.com/events/281121775411814/

Cheers

Shame, that.  Mrs LD and I can only make Sunday as other commitments for Saturday.  We'll probably still go for a nose around, though.....

I don't do Facebook. Well, not strictly true; I joined up years ago, have never used it since - but can't work out how to kill my account as I'm never likely to use it again....

Hi
I've just got back from a business trip to a full-on panic. I hope to pop in on Friday afternoon, but unfortunately I'll be spending the weekend getting ready for a Monday pitch. Sorry

I managed to pop in on Friday for a quick look between meetings. The most interesting stuff to my eye was by a Romanian called Damian Diaconescu. His processing technique is a secret, but some hints are found here: Damian Diaconescu - Marturii argentice - Argentic Evidences
Anyone have any guesses? I'd love to try this.

OK, here's my take on it:
-Print of FB paper
-Use hand made developer... though it should work just fine with Dektol
-Process as usual
-After washing, dry the paper with a coarse sheet of cotton or linen in between two heavy glass plates. This should imprint the fabric pattern in the gelatin.
-Once dry, rub arbitrarily with some yellow bees wax
-Apply some hot paraffin to the print
-Allow to cool in between glass plates and linen to add even more texture.

The paraffin would melt the bees wax and blend it in...

That should pretty much do it...

Thanks Francois - I'll give it a try. As soon as my wardrobe darkroom is finished. But in order to finish it, I better make a start. This might be just the impetus I'm looking for

That's just my two cents worth on it... there might be other tricks I don't know about like toning.
