Film Coupon
« on: July 18, 2014, 04:16:51 PM »
Here's one for all my friends in the states. Ok, it might be expired since it is on the back of the box of 126 film I just bought. But it's the thought that counts, right?

And just in case you don't know where "pictures" come from...

$4.45 for developing?! I pay less than that now! No prints, granted, but still....
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.

FAMOUS BRAND LAB

Sounds totally legit!

Nice find. Reminds me of the time when I were a lad and there were all those exotic American ads in the back of comics.

The film came FREE with the purchase of Right Guard Deodorant.  :o

It's got a poster sized advert in the box along with:
* Triple Print exclusive offer (one 4" and two 1" prints on the same card) for 126 cartridge or 127 roll film.
* 3 coupons to give to friends for free 126, 127 or 620 film
* A letter from J. Reed of Famous Brand Laboratories inviting me to partake of their triple print developing service.
* Two mailers (12¢ first class or 20¢ airmail)

This was obviously a promotional loss leader to get people to 'join' the service. It was like Seattle Film Works where you sent in the film for printing and they sent back negs, prints and fresh film.

I have a friend who thinks it is a shame to 'break up the set' and use the film. But I am a film "waster" not a film "collector", so I will shoot it and reuse the paper and cartridge for more 126 fun! Not sure what I will do with all of the other 'stuff' that came with it.

This film offer was around as early as 1970 and at least until 1980.

Not sure what I will do with all of the other 'stuff' that came with it.
I tend to frame stuff like that. It makes me smile and it's somehow priceless.
I am building a wall of photo stuff in my darkroom :)

I want a copy of the mentioned periodical - Boy's Life. Sounds full of fast cars, fast women, hot cameras and general Good Stuff. Not the thing for a scout troop to be reading at all. How times change. Although thinking about it, Boy's Life now sounds like a starter mag for boys interested in... other boys.
