Topic: In need of new bellows..

Can someone give me a name for replacing the bellows in my Autographic 2A brownie..I just put a pinhole in it and really like the results, minus the little streaks of light all over the place!

Have you tried fixing them with tape or liquid tape like you find at Radio Shack?

or... make your own! If I can do it, anyone can... believe me.

Francois, this camera is massive bellow leak city! How do you apply the liquid tape? Maybe I should look I to this.

If the holes are small enough, this would do the trick. Just use a paintbrush and dab some in the corners.

I usually do this with a small light source (small enough to fit inside the bellows) and a very dark room.  You'll see the pinholes pretty clearly and you can dab them with the liquid electrical tape goop pretty easily.  I've found the stuff at Home Depot in the electrical department among the wires, boxes and breakers.  It comes in both red and black, which is handy if you've got red bellows and you want to try to match the color.

Check out plasti-dip. A liquid rubber that can be painted, sprayed, the works. Comes in tins, cans and buckets in all sorts of colours. I have used it to coat the inner lining of bellows with success.

I've just had one of those ideas: has anyone ever tried that FlexSeal stuff we see advertised on TV to fix bellows?

I also wondered about that Francois...thinking it might work if it's not too heavy. Thinking I will get this plasti-dip, or the liquid electrical tape. I talked to a place that replaces bellows but they said mine was too small for the material they use..the bellows would not close back up . So I don't have a lot of options. Having my husband pick up something tonight. Thank you all for the suggestions.

We actually decided to also buy some red as our big red mailbox needs a re-do..think it will be perfect!

Plasti Dip is a great product. It's too bad its hard to come by in Canada. I've used it for numerous applications. I use the spray. It usually feels weird spraying on to some things but it all works out in the end, and if you don't like it you can just peel it off and start over! Watch your overspray though.
