Misrated APX 100 as 400!
« on: July 10, 2007, 10:52:47 AM »
My own stupidity, I loaded a roll of APX 100 into my rangefinder and shot half of it before I realised I'd misrated it at ISO 400.

Any ideas of what I should develop it in... I have Rodinal, HC-110, FX-39, Diafine and Perceptol and would not like to buy yet another developer unless I absolutely have to.

I know there are times suggested in Digitaltruth, but I am not sure about what the outcome would be? Overly grainy, high contrast, loss of shadow detail, etc?

:(

Sorry - cant help re- apx as I've never really used it, but, 2 stops under exposure shouldn't be horrendous ... you list all the potential problems with under exposure and push-development so I guess you know what to expect.  perceptol would be a no-no - and rodinal for that matter as both arent known for increasing film speed .....  I understand you can get about 1 stop extra from diafine?  so maybe that's the way to go - dont know though as I've never tried it.

Actually this reply is pretty much useless :) - just didnt want you to think we were ignoring your thread .... sorry I coudlnt help :-\

I did some calculations based on stuff found on the Massive List and pushed through a little program I wrote years ago... and here are the results:
2 stop push @ 20?C for 35mm

HC-110 (dil.B) =15 min 46 sec
FX-39 (1+9) = 17 min 27 sec
Rodinal (1+25) = approx 18 min 1 sec
Rodinal (1+50) = approx 38 min 16 sec

for 120 film

HC-110 (dil.B) =15 min 46 sec
FX-39 (1+9) = 27 min
Rodinal (1+25) = approx 18 min 1 sec
Rodinal (1+50) = approx 38 min 16 sec

These should put you in the ballpark... but I don't give any warranty on the results...
