Topic: Broken Yashica

It's a long story, but my Yashica Mat 124G fell off the shelf about 6 feet onto a concrete floor. Surprisingly, the lenses were intact. However, the meter housing (where the logo is) was broken. I considered selling it for parts, but instead I figured I would do my best to see if I could re-attach the meter housing and see if it could be salvaged. The shutter and winding mechanisms seemed to be perfectly fine. So I got some good ol' JB Weld and schmeared it on the broken parts (there was actual broken metal, so not just a 'replace a couple of screws' job). A few hours later and all seemed to be attached and firm, but I let it sit in the clamps for a couple more days just to be sure. I was afraid that there might be some light leaks from the trauma. These are a couple of shots from the 'first' roll through since the repair. The meter will never work again and that part of the housing will never come off again, but for now it seems to be working just like before.

JB Weld is my go-to for all manner of repairs. I can't count the number of things I've epoxied together with that stuff over the years. As long as I did my part in prep, I've never had a problem with the repair holding up. Looks like you're good to go.

It escaped my memory that it even had a meter. My meter portion has been been broken for such a bit, I don't ever recall working with it.

Yep, mine never worked even with a new battery, so it wasn't any great loss.
