This is my first post here on the Photo Essays so go easy on me.

Last October I had the opportunity to join a group of photographers for 3-4 days in the English Lake District. Out of the six photographers there were five of us using film with equipment ranging from 10x8 down to 35mm and everything else in between. I personally decided to take my Bronica SQAi with quite a few rolls of Velvia, Acros and Ektar.

We based ourselves on the shores of Ullswater in Glenridding which we found was handy for Ullswater itself but within an hour's drive to most of the interior of the Lake District.

For those who know this popular part of the UK they will also know that it rains quite a lot! Surprisingly we had just 3 hours of heavy rain throughout the whole trip!

paul, these are borderline surreal to me. in the best way possible mind you! like dioramas shaping a landscape I can barely beliave to exist. you've caught something special on film here, if you ask me~

I hope to see some more shots soon. you planning to update this thread with more later??

The "lady of the lake" shot is epic. I imagine that place so very green, but the monochrome captures the "spirit" of the spaces better, I feel.

A stunning set of photos, Paul.

That "lightning strike" looking steam that runs down from the haystacks side of Buttermere (first photo) is awesome, as are "Lady of the Lake" and "Looking Towards Seatoller Fells" are my favourites - but that's being picky as I'd have this set on my wall any day of the week.

I know there'll be others who'll disagree but the results from 120 film are, in my opinion, much greater and worthwhile than the jump from 120 to 4"x5".

It's difficult to see how such photos can be improved upon - from a technique, production quality or aesthetic perspective.

I like them all, but as already mentioned "the lady of the lake" is amazing. 

That image is one that could hang on my wall for a very long time, and I'd not tire of viewing it.

What a classy set of pictures! The Borrowdale fells and Lady of the lake shots are amazing. I wish we only had 3 hours of rain when we were there last year,  I think it was about 1/2 a day of overcast cloud was the best we had :(

Great set Paul, I have spent a lot of time in the lakes and to get this together in such a short space of time speaks volumes. Great work, love the borrow dale shot and the boat shot as faves.

i have a real soft spot for good Landscapes . . .
but these are more than GOOD.

I'm slowly looking through the photo essays here and the found this beautiful contribution. I'm envious of you about this fine trip. These are super images. I have an old "Picturebook of the Lake District" completely in bw from 1953 from Country Life ltd. found at a flea market with 60 beautiful images and it looks as if time has stood still since then. Tempus fugit? Maybe not always.
