hey, look what I made!
« on: July 26, 2013, 05:31:15 PM »
I've been working on this 8 x 10 pinhole box for a couple of weekends and have gotten to the final stages of completion.

It's an f/264 and I'll use paper negatives in it.

Anyway, here it is.
I decided to put an elephant on it since they seem to be "slow and thoughtful" creatures and pinhole photography is similar in nature.
Enjoy!

P.S. the artwork is freehand and done with Sharpies.

Looks fantastic!
I expect a lot of people will ask you what you are doing when you take this camera out  :)

That's one cool camera! Nice thing about an elephant 8x10 pinhole camera is that it's small enough to put in your trunk .... !!

I've made some very nice images with 8x10 pinhole on paper negatives, looking forward to seeing first light.

Great for candid photography too.  You wouldn't exactly blend in but no one would think it was a camera!

Indeed I have been following Becky's posts regarding this beast on FB. Can't wait to see the results.

thank you all so much!
I had fun making it!
Moiz- here's a backside view with the filmholder in it for you...
The box is about 4.75 inches deep.
Currently, it is snug enough for the filmholder to sit in without any clips, but after a few uses it will be sloppy and I'll need to make permanent clips to keep the filmholder from falling out of place.

Wow, that's great! The sort of camera that might get folks coming up close to look at the elephant if you're in a populated area. Lovely lasting signature of yours too! Looking forward to seeing some images from this one :D

An elephant wearing cowboy boots? Now I've seen it all! You're definitely going to get some curious passers-by sticking their faces in the pinhole. Awesome work!
