Suggestions for places in Paris during a whistlestop tour.
« on: June 17, 2013, 08:09:35 PM »
As some of you are aware, I am lucky to go to Paris at the weekend. However actually being in Paris will only be the Friday Afternoon and Evening.
So to get the best out of such a small amount of time, any suggestions?
Especially as I will be taking the Bronica ETRS with me.
I will be taking both my lenses I have for it (75mm and 105mm), but also my mate is taking one of his two Bronny's so whatever happens, I will have access to the 50mm and 150mm too.  ;D

Obviously we all will want to get the most out of Paris in such a small space of time, and as usual the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadero will probably happen anyway. But other places in the Heart of Paris?

Let me know.  :)

The Arab Institute is in the centre of town & always fascinates. The Cartier Foundation is in the suburbs, but the inside/outside trees and space also makes for interesting architectural shots. Abstracts of the Pompidou Centre (signposted Beaubourg only) also offer the chance of combining candids with buildings.

Enjoy - it's a wonderful city

The Pompidou center is a definite must see. Usually, they have good exhibitions on display.

If you like wax statues of famous people, there's always the Grévin museum.

And for just a look, you can always peek into the Harcourt studio. They're the ones responsible for the fantastic photographs of so many stars.

There's a lovely park near Les Halles where you can observe petanque matches, some Parisien romance and it will be very photogenic as the shadows lengthen. If you look on the map it's just north of the Pont Neuf.

Unfortunately I only have photos from there taken with a non-film camera, so won't post them here  :-X

The cemetery east of canal st. martin, Père Lachaise is nice.  Dining at Chez Janou is even better  ;)

Pont Neuf / Notre Dame, The Louvre and a trip to La Defense.

View from the mentioned Arab institute:

The institute itself:

I also like strolling through old Jewish quarter.

But there are opportunities for street photography round every corner:

Website of sorts, as well as ipernity thing.

One of the great things about Paris is that there's a surprise around every corner. It's one of the cities with the most photo ops in the world.

The area around  Rue de Bretagne is perfect for a bit of street shooting, if that´s your thing. Got some nice shops and a really nice food market/lunch places. The area tends to be crowded with a great variety of characters  :)
