Thanks so much for the welcome, guys! It's really appreciated! Just would like to share a little bit of my slightly eventful and relevant day with you guys today...
I had to make a day trip to Boston to sort out some stuff for my school, but on the way, we decided to stop by YYE Camera, owned by renowned Leica specialist Youxin Ye! I decided to get just a quick CLA for my M4, since I had gotten it off of eBay in decent condition. While I was there, he put aside the camera he was working on and immediately began tearing down my M4 with almost reckless abandon. After explaining how a bunch of the mechanisms worked, why my M4 is much louder than my M3, the benefits of certain Leicas over the others, he began a more extensive cleaning which was amazing.
The amount of dirt and old lubrication/metal shavings inside my M4 was actually shocking. He cleaned each part multiple times while I was there and was happy to show me where he got his spare parts from. The sheer amount of business this guy has is truly insane. Summicrons, Summitars, Noctons, Noctiluxes, I mean absolutely everything was there, just in this guy's living room in Canton, MA!
I picked my M4 up a few hours later after finishing up some paperwork for my school (The Art Institute of Boston, for tani.P who was curious) and was greatly pleased. The viewfinder is crystal clear and it just operates so much more soundly, really astonishing what a good CLA will do for a Leica. I thought I was impressed with how it operated before, but this thing is honestly comparable to my M3, now!
