Buying film cheaply
« on: October 08, 2012, 11:00:43 PM »
I thought I'd share a recent experience with picking up some film fairly cheaply. I stopped at a Sainsbury's (in Ponteland, Northumberland, UK) to get some headache tablets and was pleasantly surprised to find a clearance offer on some just-expired Kodak Gold 200 - packs of 3 rolls of 24 exposures for 49p a pack ... 13.3p per roll or 0.68p per frame :D. I bought 12 rolls.

The film expiry date is Sept 2012 and I made the purchase on 6th October, so either a week or a month out of date depending on your method of calculation.

I don't suppose this is a general offer in Sainsbury's, more likely a local clearance - but I thought it might be useful to have a place here to post such news, and sorry if such a thread already exists.

I'm more of a Portra user but willing to trade down at this price - I haven't used this film before but I expect it to be a step up from the Kodacolor 200 recently featured in Poundland.

Great find.
Kodak Gold is such an underrated film!
It's been the staple of all my photography for years. Colors are not too pop-y and quite nice and tame.

Film is the vinyl record of photography.
