« on: October 04, 2012, 10:36:01 PM »
A few photos from a walk along Blakeney Point last Friday to start things off.  All taken with my Rolleicord Vb using FP4 developed in Prescysol EF.
Happy weekend.

Hi all, I look forward to this thread!  :)

The following images were shot last weekend on Kodak Elite Chrome 100. Unfortunately, or rather fortunately, I didn't realise it was slide film untill my regular film store pointed it out. On his advice, I had it cross processed as a cheaper alternative. I must say that I love this film!

On a side note, I am super excited as tomorrow is the annual photography festival at a local mall!!!!

Browsing (and drooling) at the latest digicams, hanging out with my local photography group, attending discussions and camera demonstrations, model shooting session and lots of photo exhibitions!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Will report on the festival soon!

Great Diane
Nick, is it the uncoated lens that allows such a wide dynamic range? Anyway, always high quality shots.

Two with the Rollei, Khartoum as usual...

Carlos and Miller, loving the shots. Should have saved the heads for a weekend closer to halloween!

Heres some shots of an old tanker car that was involved in what looks like a derailment. Its just sitting in a yard rusting and crusting away. Something I LOVE. Shot on QL-17 GIII with Efke 50 and XP2 Super

Lots of inspirational stuff this weekend peeps!

My favourites...

Nick - Super set of three but the centre image is my winner

Diane - Dreamy!

Windy - love it! reminds me of my grandma's house

Mauricio - the super saturation suits the location

Calbisu - Two images of death yet completely different

Miller - The pola's really add another dimension to the street art

gary - What a scary looking elephant!

Paul

Some gorgeous work this week and I am genuinely struggling to pick favourites. Nick's usual high standard is very much maintained, TKMedia's "Big Swingers" are fantastic, I love the very slight blur in Sandeha's second shot, Windy's guest house shot reminds me of many childhood holidays (thank you Windy), Calbisu's shots are brutally honest (and wonderful as usual) but I've got to go for Diane's "slip" as I keep going back to it for another view - a real dream.

Mine are a bit more heavily processed than usual but I hope you like them all the same. Balcony (Marrakesh - Leica M6 TTL / 50mm) and Trees (Olympus OM2n / 50mm). Both on XP2 Super.

Paul (latedeveloper) thank you so much for the kind words. I am still a bit in
"awe" being able to successfully develop my own color work, so when an image comes out just the way I had hoped, I am thrilled..I love the work that shows up every weekend on this site and to be in the company of all you wonderful artists is a true honor!

From Philly a cool interactive art exhibit:

1 - record a message to the city, using a free app and your cell phone.
2 - receive message from app telling you when your message will be broadcast (there are speakers so you can hear, but it plays on your phone too).
3 - When its your turn, the searchlights, which are all computer controlled, track your phone position and converge on you, putting a big ball of light right over your head while your message plays to the city.

It's just so damned cool.

People are making recordings of everything from marriage proposals, threats, some are singing songs, others crying. It's really something.

The square one is from the Hasselblad with a Sonnar 150, and the others are a Zeiss Ikon. All with D3200, which I'm enjoying more now that I develop it in DDX instead of Xtol.  Nice stuff!

Nice photos Jeff. What's D3200? I fancy doing some night shooting around London, so would welcome some tips. As for the "app", it sounds a bit weird for my sensibilities. I prefer to be much more incognito...

Thanks LD,

Yes it's odd having the lights follow you, but I suppose that creepiness is part of the success of the installation; I was surprised at how easy it was for him to grab my location.

Anyway, the film on those images was Ilford Delta3200, which performed well with Ilford's DDX developer.  I exposed it at 1600 (ish) and the exposures were eight seconds or so at f11.

I've been playing with Kodak T-max400 for these night images too, and it also works well.  This one was exposed at iso1600 for a similar time, and developed in Xtol.  I wet printed it and it looks real nice.  I haven't tried wet printing the D3200, but plan on doing that tonight.  The difference I'm seeing (just from scans and examining the negatives) is that Kodak is smoother with much finer grain if that matters to you, but the D3200 somehow looks more painterly, and has more grain.  They're both very nice.

Thanks LD, I was a bit angry as I only had a very short time in New York, but my TLR camera decided to  not function with a bag full of 120 film, I had two instant cameras and two pack of instant film. Jewish holidays prevented me from restocking instant film.

It's been so long since I last sent something to the weekend thread I can't actually remember what it was!
So, the house being such a mess since last spring's flood, I managed to find two cameras with some leftover film in them.
So, first some pumpkins taken on Instax. And some handheld shots of a foggy night using my Polaroid 315 and some Fuji FP100B...

Thanks Carlos. The 3.5 Xenar lens on the Rolleicord is a coated lens, but I find it less contrasty than more modern lenses, with a nice combination of sharpness and softness. Definately one of my favourite cameras.  Although my experience with this developer, Prescysol, is limited, I'm sure it contributes a lot to the tonality too.
