Polaroid Joycam Problem
« on: September 24, 2012, 12:30:38 PM »
Team, I have a Polaroid Joycam which I love using. When 500 film went the way of the dodo several years ago I had about 10 packs in the film fridge and I've sued them sparingly over the years. Most recently I shot one pack last summer which turned out just fine:

Roll forward to this Spring when I decided to waste another pack of film and imagine my dismay when I ran into problems. No matter what I did the print won't eject after I've shot it. I tried two packs of film in the same camera and got the problem both times. I then bought another Joycam on evilBay (they go for virtually nothing) and had the same problem again. I even got some more film with the second camera and that wouldn't eject either.

Weird.
2 different cameras, 3 different packs of film. 1 problem.
Did Polaroid build into the design on the Joycam a self-destruct feature which means that no cameras will properly eject film after 2011?

Anyone experienced this with a Joycam and work out how to fix it? There's nothing obviously wrong with the mechanism or the film.

Nope, that can't be it, but thanks for the suggestion. The batteries aren't used to eject the film on the Joycam, it's a fully manual process...and the flash works still anyway.

It's like a catch isn't working any more or something.

ahh I didn't realise they didn't use batteries...I have one you can have if you want to rule out the coincidence of 2 faulty cameras at once?

Sure, why not. That's very generous of you. I can try the film in a third camera and see what happens. Let me know if you need my address again.

And if you don't want anything for the camera I'll send you money for the postage.

Ed - refresh me of your address by PM again, I have cleared all my emails out lately.

don't want anything for the camera, I'll let you know what the postage was but if it is as cheap as I expect it will be then we won't have to worry about it.

hope it solves it!
