Get the 110 cameras out of the shelves !
« on: August 30, 2012, 06:18:23 PM »
It looks like a revival of the 110 format is upon us with the lomography film around and the new 110 extra small Diana camera release.

And now I've found this film by chance on the web!  God only knows how good it is but in times when companies are stop producing flms,  this feels like I've found gold! My little Thunderbird camera will be so happy... ;D

Hard to get stuff.
I saw it on Flickr at some point and didn't know if it was a serious endeavor or just an elaborate prank to get us all worked up!

Funny thing is, I have two 110 cameras which I've never ever used. One's a little Agfa with the orange button and the other one is a Vivitar with a motor drive!

Why would anyone want to shoot 110 anymore? Results were never great even with top of the line cameras of which I've got a few. Also, have a Spy Kids NIB piece.

Cost and availability of processing?

I'd love to...  :D photography to me it's also about experiment and trying different stuff all the time from pieces of crap. I already know that my Rolleiflex is going to give me sharp photographs, but my little plastic Thunderbird camera... well, it's always a surprize!

Just curious what price did you find on that film? Looking it up the cheapest price I could discover was $9.99, a bit thick. The new Lomo 110 film is $7.90 a roll for either  B&W or color. Don't know why I care as I don't even have a 110 camera. But I find it encouraging to see a dead film format resurrected. That cheers me up a bit when I see so much sad news regarding film lately. I do shoot submini, a Minolta 16II. The cassettes are a breeze to reload and 100ft. of Eastman 16mm single perf Double-X will yield 60 rolls easy.

As to the question of "why shoot a subminiature camera?" Well, speaking strictly for myself, I just find it a fun challenge to see what I can get off of a 10X14mm negative. I mean, in regard to film, if ultimate technical quality is the overarching requirement then I would think that a at least a top flight medium format system with the best lenses would be minimum size one would shoot. Regular 24X36mm on 35mm would be just too small to even consider.

I didn't see the film to be sold yet but got the news on tweeter... but like you I found encouraging to see a nearly dead film format out there after so many bad news regarding films... :)

I'm very excited to try out 110. I actually won the Believe in Film contest for the Tele-Instamatic and Lomo Orca film! Can't wait for the package to arrive & get shooting. I'm kicking myself a little bit because I used to come across tons of 110 cameras in thrift stores but always passed on them thinking 110 was gone.

Sources on the internet (so it must be true ;) said that the name 'fukkatsu' is Japanese for "rebirth or resurrection".
Seems logical.
