Maing a darkroom from what's at hand....
« on: August 08, 2012, 06:11:13 PM »
Found a camper trailer to use for my darkroom, thinking it will be better than using my extra bathroom. This one is/was pretty pathetic when we brought it home but has now been "gutted" and is waiting for new walls and flooring. Basically it will be a smalllish room ( about 8x12) with lots of storage space for all things analog., plus my enlarger and prolly a bed so I can pretened its a playhouse like I wished for as a child!

Great! And actually it has larger floor space than my "proper" darkroom in the basement :)
Website of sorts, as well as ipernity thing.

I've seen one converted as a darkroom in a magazine once... I even thought of doing that myself before I had a serious place but my mom didn't want to...

(bummer, I can't get to the my magazine box. It was in the "show us your darkroom" contest in Photo Techniques... I think it was in 1992)

I am just starrting to do tintype! Watiing for my plates to dry as we "speak"! Next I want to try wet plate. I just noticed there is a show in Seattle on the 22 of September that I want to drive over for...
I could only dream of having an Airstream..Those things cost major money! I paid $250.00 for this one, but it was in really bad shape. I ( actually my husband) gutted it yesterday and I have scrubbed it clean for two days..Now it smells really nice. Waiting to hear back from my friend who owns a carpet store to get some flooring! Onwards and upwards! You always have to have a dream is my motto!!

Francois! It is white on top with mottled blue with an over lay of texture on the bottom...I want to paint it with school bus yellow on the bottom with a yellow brick road Witch wrapped around the windows..We shall see.

AND thank you everyone for your most positive comments!  :)

Diane, congrats on your new DIY portable darkroom!  So cool that you were able to upcycle this treasure. Everyone deserves a creative space of their own.
