Dumb Flickr fun
« on: June 24, 2012, 04:15:41 AM »
Killed some time last night walking through some of my 35mm cameras and all the color neg film types I either have readily on hand or can still get, looking at the lens + film combinations for combinations that I tended to like over others, and here's the (surprising) result:

Olympus XA2 + Fuji 200
Canon AE-1 Program + Fuji 200
Rollei 35S + Reala or Kodak 200
Ricoh 500G + Portra 400
Vivitar UWS + Ektar, Portra 400, or Ferrania 200

Some of those I've tried before, some I haven't, and some films I love I'd look at everyone else's result with certain cameras and say, "Meh." Sometimes too saturated, grainy, or cold with one camera and exactly the look I'd wish for with another.

Anyone else care to spin the Wheel of Fortune?

I really like your Ferrania shots with the UWS! I'll have to snag some of that.
Strangely, I liked how a roll of CVS "brand" 400 film (rebranded Fuji, maybe?) turned out in the UWS, and once I used Agfa Propack 200 that I thought worked well (see attachment).
Second on the Fuji 200 for SLR (I use a Nikon FE2).

this sounds fun. it's often interesting to search on a film n camera combo but I've never thought to compare.. you just use the flickr search then?

Yep. Not very scientific, but you can search tags within one of your groups, so I'll pick, say, the Rollei 35 group and search for "portra400" or "superia" or "ektar" and subjectively compare the results.

If nothing else, it wastes a fair amount of time.  ;D

Thanks!

I just went looking on eBay for some, and looks like it's hard to come by under $5 a roll. So sad.
