Sad News
« on: June 18, 2012, 09:31:34 AM »
Some of the Longer-Term forum folk will remember my old dog Meg.  She has had many a photo-related experience in her life, not least with me pointing a lens in her direction at every possible opportunity (and posting them here like the proud owner that I am).  She also stars on Susan Burnstine's website (see below) as the 'supermodel', as well as having the distinct honour of being the first (and only) dog to feature on the front of an Ilford paper box. She, unwittingly, has done a fair bit in the promotion of film and darkroom :)

I like to think of her, along with Susan's Blue and Sean's Kino, as a forum mascot.

Sadly, Meg passed away last week. She was 14, and spent many an hour waiting around for me to make pictures when we were out for a walk.

I thought I'd post up some pics here to show her off, and to say goodbye.

ah sorry to hear that Leon.

i am a proud doggie owner too and have also a greyhound who lives with my brother and his dog [long story]
and spends most of his time in a giant bean bag.
greyhounds are such a nice breed and seriously misunderstood and very often abused.

Meg looked absolutely lovely - 14 was a good age!

Sorry to hear about your dog, it is wonderful that Ilford have immortalised her on paper boxes.

So sad to hear the news Leon but I'm sure she lived a good life with people who loved and cared for her, sadly so many pets have short painful lives.

Sorry about it Leon : ( I know it makes a poor excuse but it's great you could share with her a fair amount of time and that she left so many nice memories with you : )

I'm gutted for you, mate. I've had many dogs down the years and it's always heart-rending when they go as they are often right at the centre of the family. As Paul says, she clearly had a good life in a family that cared for her very much.

Loosing a pet is always so sad. They become family members in their own part.
I remember when we lost our dove. I must have cried for weeks...

I feel your hearth's pain old chap.

Sorry to hear this, Leon. It's hard to think of you rummaging about with your photo equipment and no Meg half a step behind.

Wonderful shots of a dear friend. Best wishes to you.

Oh Leon, that really makes me sad.
She was a beautiful dog and a loving companion.  I always liked to see her in your photos as she was such a classy lady.

I'm happy she had a great life as a dog and family member and that you shared her with us in your photos, rest in peace dear Meg.

thanks for the thoughts and words to all.

The worse thing was it all happened while I was away.  My wife had to deal with it all on her own.

Thanks again to all

Leon.

I know how you  feel, Leon. Our cat, Timmy died whilst we were travelling back from Crete last year. The poor chap just couldn't hang on.

Sad news indeed. Sorry hear that. I haven't owned a dog for many years now, but I remember well how distressing it is  to lose a pet that's been part of the family for years. Such a photogenic doggy too.

So sorry Mr Leon.

We have Pushkn the [very old ] cat not too well at the moment. I'm anxious although Pushkin only adopted us a few months ago.      i can't imagine what it feels to lose a long-time friend like this.

The loss of a pet is devastating! I know when the Bobcat ate my "baby floyd" last November I cried for weeks..I still think about him..My husband tries to console me by saying that everytime he thinks of him he tries to smile and remember how much fun we had with him and how much we enjoyed his company..still not quite there but I appreciate his sentiment...
