That's funny!

Sh*t I've said.....

"I really don't like Lomo"
"go ahead, walk through, it's pinhole so it doesn't matter unless you stand still"
"I'm not that kind of photographer"
"that's fixer vinaigrette you smell"
"light waits for no one"

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at that video.

A couple of things I've come out with that I've come to regret:

- "I'm sure by the time they've got round to making full-frame sensors, they'll also have got the image quality to at least the same level as 35mm film" (Maybe that one should be in the Confessional thread.... :o)
- "This bloody Leica M6 loading mechanism is doing my head in and will be the death of me. I'm trading the bugger in..." (I now own another one)
- "It's blurred...!! Seriously, what's the point of making a photograph blurred deliberately ...??

Hmmm...I didn't think this was all that funny. I'm glad someone made it, but I think it could have been better.

here's my favourite sht - some I've heard, and some I've said:

  • 'I'll just give it a little more time in the developer to make certain it's done' Cracks me up!!!
  • Referring to developer as 'Soup' - where did that come from??? Make me feel slightly queasy
  • 'don't worry about focusing, I'll just Hyperfocal it'
  • 'I don't like XXX film type - it's too contrasty' - superb misunderstanding of development and exposure
  • Any form of lens snobbery
  • 'it's all about the eye, not the camera' (my mantra - and I stand by my own sht ;) )

I meant for it to be; blurry, out of focus, strangely composed, odd colour, too contrasty too soft (delete as applicable) - yep said the lot at some time or another

or "its my vision of the scene, my interpretation" / "this is what a felt when viewing the scene and it it to capture my feeling, my vision of ..... " (when in reality is a rubbish picture !!)

My least favourite, heard many a time as I play with my cameras, (from usually an annoying, boastful, but I suppose, well meaning person ) what you need is a nikkcannormat D0000 -6QT as this has (list of techno gobbdygook) and takes much better pictures.

I thought soup have to do with dispensing developer from the big dev containers. Similar to soup base broth in restaurants with the plastic tap on containers?

I thought soup came from the newspaper darkrooms of olden times, where they would just keep adding replenisher to the dev in the deep tanks rather than mixing fresh, so it got kinda gelatinous and gloopy (Can't remember where I read that though- citation needed!)

-
"bollocks i bought silk!"
:D

As for me:
  • "hold still, damnit!"
  • "when I build my darkroom..."
  • "I wish I had faster / slower / colour / b&w film with me"

And there's always the ever popular
"I left it on Bulb"
"Is it just me or does this roll wind mighty smooth?"
"What? already out of developer?"
"It isn't a 400 ISO?"
"I need to finish restoring my 4x5"

Bummer, Dave. Maybe keep it for when you're shooting at a party/gathering/event or whatever and you just want to give prints of themselves to people instead of hoarding and scanning?

As a last resort, you could always cast the prints in resin and make some interesting art pieces out of them ;)

Sounds like a plan. At least the price was right- 6 packs for £20, expired summer 2011. Won't mind handing the prints out like sweeties that way.

Interesting. I assume you'd have to polish the surface of the resin? (If so I don't wanna- as a student I had a summer job preparing metal samples for microscopy by cutting them up, casting them in resin and the polishing them with 8 different grades of grinding compound. Each sample took 90mins. Torture...)

I once saw how they make how they make acrylic awards
How It's Made Acrylic Awards

Something similar could be done with the buffing stage replaced by the melting of the surface with a blow torch or heat gun to make it clear.
