Topic: An idea for a future collaboration or print round.....?

I'm not sure if everyone will buy into this - and I'm only floating it as an idea to see if there are any takers.....

However, how about next time we do a collaboration or print circle, we:

1) Take a photo and send a "straight" unprocessed scan (large JPEG or TIFF) of the shot to the next person in the print circle, then.....
2) The recipient crops and post processes it how they see fit (no holds barred - but I'm sure we'd all be respectful to the original photographer's sensibilities), then....
3) Post a copy on a designated thread and send a printed version back to the original photographer

Occasionally, I get a bit stuck with some of my shots and they tend to end up looking a bit the same from a stylistic point of view. I'd certainly be up for someone else "shining new light through old windows". You never know, it could be fun...

It would please me to see how someone else interprets my work.

we have done similar things on the forum, without the print part at the end.  It's worth a search to see how it came together.

I used to really enjoy writing the Printer's Art features for black and white photography, and miss doing it.  It used to really help me to keep my hand in ... shame Liz decided not to do it very much anymore

ps Phil - anytime, drop one in the post. I charge about £200 per 8x10 hand print. Sound reasonable?

maybe there could be a digital and darkroom grouping too depending on what people prefer..

Great - seems like there's at least a few of us up for it. I wish I still had my darkroom. I wasn't at all good - passable at best - but I really enjoyed the process and seeing the end result with a  bit of dodging and burning. Anyway, a chemical print circle and a separate inkjet print one for the rest of us would work.

Maybe think of it as an early spring project to complete by end of March?

Not for me alas - I'm strictly wet when it comes to printing etc.  I have a little digi cam p&s and have taken and kept about 200 hundred images on it.  Never printed any of them out - wouldn't know how and not very interested anyway, so the thought of manipulating someone else's work is not too high on my list of priorities.

By the way Paul, did you get my reply to your pM a few weeks back - it doesn't seem to show in my outbox, nor the two sent to Leon, come to that.
