more wish lists....cameras, film, gear??
« on: December 12, 2011, 04:26:36 PM »
anyone getting, wishing for photo gear during the holidays?

I've asked Santa for a wide lens for my K1000.  I really need one, it's not just a "I want it" kind of thing.

It aint going to happen unless I buy it for myself but a really exotic 50mm L39 prime lens for my Bessa R would be nice, to replace the fitful Industar that I currently have.  Oh, and a working Gossen Lunasix would be a good stocking filler as I've been itching to try some night time work.  See, not too ambitious.

Nope.  But making.  I'm assembling a bundle of parts for a recycle/decycle/spincycle 4x5 which should all come together (like a jigsaw, I hope) during the dark days.   8)

Yep! almost every years I get something either photographic or computer related for my birthday or for Xmas.

She once told me she'd keep feeding me with film as long as I keep taking pictures!

That's what I call being very lucky :)

I'm blowing the budget on a V700 scanner this Xmas. For my recent birthday I received a mint used Mamiya 150mm F3.5 which I haven't even had a chance to try out yet. Happy Bunny.

Just more film.  I have too many cameras.  Maybe a fast lens for the Exa.  Pretty content with everything in the world ATM though.  ;D

All I want for everyday (not just christmas) is polaroid film... hard to ask relatives to go searching and bidding for it on ebay though...

hopefully I'll get something unexpected camera related though.

Happy Christmas!

I'd like a holga 120 Panoramic camera but they don't seem to be available in the UK.  Other than that, the Vivian Maier book would be nice.

I asked for three specific things: a Canon Auto-Up, which is a nifty close-up device for Canon Rangefinders:

A hand-tooled leather holster made by WotanCraft for my Canon IIF2:

And a C-41 home-developing kit.  I'm pretty sure my wife has bought the Auto-Up, because after I nagged her for the third time that the eBay auction was ending, suddenly it was purchased, and then a box about the right size came in the mail a few days later....

Would that mean you wouldn't be using that lovely little Horseman any more?  ;D

Nobody understands me so I have gone on a bit of a LF spending spree to make myself feel better and to prepare for having a wee bit of time off to play:
  • A Dallmeyer 4 1/2" wideangle
  • 5 boxes of '92 expired TMX 13x18cm
  • 500 sheets of expired 13x18cm X-ray film (I can't possibly use it all but it was VERY cheap)
  • An order to Silverprint for 5x7" paper, chems and some of that sunprint stuff
I am very, very happy.

It doesn't really need that much. Fun thing is that you can see the exposure happening. If you just leave a small piece of the paper uncovered, you can see it change color. When it's white, you've fully exposed it. During Summer, under a hazy sun, I got about 7 minutes exposures. I suspect that Winter would about double that...

As with one or two earlier posters, I already have too many cameras (or "enough" cameras if you use one of my wife's descriptions  :-X)

What I don't have is an ultra-wide for my M6. No way could I afford (or expect to be bought) an 18mm Leica but I might see if there's a couple of bits of my current non-Leica kit I could trade against a new or used Voigtlander 15mm f4.5 Heliar.

That aside, as much Tri-X, XP2, BW400CN, Neopan 400CN, Portra (160 and/or 400) as I can fit in the fridge.

What I'd like most of all is some peace, health and prosperity for us all. It's been a very difficult last few years and the news seems perpetually bad. It's about time those in a position to make a difference for the better did so.

Pete, that Auto Up is really slick!

There is nothing on the list for me  this year.  Usually I buy a load of film around this time but I still have a stockpile so that's out.  I've been wanting a wide for the Ikon but I'm going to wait on that.  I did splurge on a few photo books though, one of which arrived yesterday, the Vivian Maier book.  It's lovely, amazing, recommended.

All the best,

Jeff

I know I'm getting a Holga 135. I placed the order and it arrived today all wrapped in brown paper with the usual 'Hong Kong string and bow'. It's been snaffled away before I got chance to open it :)

Not sure if there's anything else - Deanne has my Amazon wish list with a selection of photo books, cycling books, guitar books and cd's  ;)

This was my year for a couple of major house repairs so I've asked for gift cards to places where I can get film.

...(But Santa... if you've got a spare vintage Ermanox with the drop dead gorgeous 1.8 Ernostar lens, you can just pass her here.  Thanks.)

I am so happy Santa brought me the photobook: Disfarmer The Vintage Prints. A lovely book with great portraits!

Guess the hubby have been nice this year also ;), since he got Ansel Adams: "The Print" and the wonderful photobook of Kwang Mo: "Dust Line".

A lot of books in our family...

From my side I am happy to say I do not want any more photo equipment  8) which must meanI am satisfied with what I have. I want to focus shooting with only couple of cameras. My fridge is full of polaroid film so what else can I wish. Well some books will be nice, foot for the mind!

Father Christmas flew over the village on the island this morning in the coastguard helicopter - big of a gale blowing [force 11] so just as well he left the sleigh at the airport. Brought me a new Kenna book. Very nice indeed.
And - drum roll - a lovely tintype and Mr Radford's lovely book from the man himself!!! How good is that ? :-) ;D :)
Hope you all have a safe and happy day.

Santa was very nice to me too!

He happened to drop a few things from his sled on his way out west.
Some nice camera gloves so I don't freeze my fingers, a few non-photo books, a TLR shaped pencil sharpener and best of all, a Diana Multi Pinhole Operator!

I'll have to do a review on that pretty soon :)

Ok, before I mentioned that I did not want any more equipment, but just out of curiosity I peeked into evilbay, but when I was trying to sign in the following message showed up:

Kind of freaky-deaky, my wife bought me a little button/pin shutter dial from Cafe Press for my stocking (I have a Four Corner Store pin I keep on my winter hat/tuque). I was looking at it the other day and thought it looked familiar.

It's the shutter dial from a Great Wall TLR, which I'm ogling daily, but have spared her. Apparently we've been married so long we share just the one brain.
