I have not been there in a few years, but there is often plenty of camera photo shops in central on Stanley Street. At least there better still be. I've bought stuff for the past 30 years on and off around that area. Most well know are the three stores of Wing shing and man shing in Mongkok. There are a few other misc stores by there as well.

looked them up

Wing Shing
95 Fa Yuen Street
Mongkok

Man Shing photo supply co
106 Tung Choi Street
Mongkok

Wing Shing
55-57 Sai Yeung Choi Street
Mongkok

Kowloon Photo Service (smaller shop)
5 Woo Sung St.
right by Yau Ma Tei Station
Kowloon

I used to be able to walk in get 4x5 films ilford and fuji in hk no problems. There are other smaller cheaper shops, they may be harder to deal with if your not into price haggling.

Have fun - looking forward to seeing some images!

We´ll see how this time goes. Last weekend went to Bangkok with  Elena and little Alma and it was challenging - not easy to photograph with the baby - . One day, after dragging the Pentax 67 all along I only shot TWO pictures.... So I decided to wake up early, VERY early, and go by myself for shooting. I guess I´ll do the same this time, still have to decide about which cameras, film...  ::)

Welcome to HK! Stanley Street in Central is still full of camera stores and together with Man Shing/Wing Shing in Mongkok, they should fit your needs for 135 and 120 films.

Just for your information, if you like Polaroid sx-70s, you can check out this little store in Causeway Bay (right opposite to the Times Square) called MINT. They sell sx-70s, impossible project films and other accessories, and host small exhibition from time to time. http://www.sx70asia.com/web/index.php

Have fun!

If you want to buy something new or second hand or just take a look around go to Champagne Court which is on Kimberley Rd. (which is perpendicular to Nathan Rd. in TST). Most "high end" cameras (Leica, Rolleis, Hasselblad, etc.) command a premium in HK as it's a collectors market but they have some of the best prices for things such as Voigtlander lenses (for Nikon or Leica Mount).

There are still plenty of shops in Stanley Rd. but the prices are a bit higher as it's a laowai (foreigner) area. But there are a couple of places for decent quality film processing if you need something done quickly.

Just wondering, can sheet film still be found easily on the shelf? Or does it have to be requested/ordered?

Stanley Street used to supply most of my local film needs, and TST was OK for new stuff if you wanted to haggle. My preference for new stuff were the less touristy places suggested in Causeway Bay, and perhaps near the Central Market (which was close to my office).

Enjoy, and if you want destination recommendations, ask as well! I miss the place. Great photo ops, tremendous food, shopping, and always something new & interesting... Skj.
