Greetings from Underberg, South Africa.
« on: January 07, 2011, 05:48:41 PM »
Greetings,

I have dipped into "filmwasters" from time to time but today finally took the plunge and joined!

I live in the Southern Drakensberg town of Underberg, KwaZulu-Natal. Together with Catherine, my ceramic artist wife, I co-manage our gallery, The Underberg Studio.

Although my day to day work centers around colour panoramic landscapes, my personal work is, and always has been, monochrome.

I work in several formats including 5x7 - 6x17 and 6x6. (Glass and pinhole)
My film of choice for the last few years has been Fuji Acros.
I hand develop and scan my negs.

Thought I would just say Hi and introduce myself!

Regards,

Lawrie.

Hi Lawrie, welcome onboard! It'd be great if you post some examples of your work and maybe a link to your web site if you have one.

Welcome, welcome!

You will certainly find us friendly and eager to see your work round here.
I especially like the sound of pinhole and panorama these days!

Don't be shy, we don't bite, except for Leon,  ;)  he's known to growl a wee bit but all for good!   :)

Welcome aboard!  Happy you found us.

Bonjour!
I might be mistaken but you're our first Filmwaster on the African continent :)

Welcome
Francois

Welcome Lawrie. Hoping to see some of your work. By the way now I am going through a photography book about the apartheid by Ian Berry ¨Living Apart¨. Quite an interesting document!

Hi lawrie -  welcome. I'm keen to see your pictures.

Don't listen to Becky - I'm not that bad, just a stickler for rules and clarity.

Francois - I think we recently had another African member, but they haven't posted much - I probably scared them off ;)

Welcome! Last year I missed a job assignment in ZA (two parallel requests for me came to my company but the one for Germany came a day earlier) and now I kick myself every time I see my colleagues' shots of all the cool places where they have been. You live in quite an impressive country!
