I'm blessed with a wife who indulges my photographic hobby year round, so I'm not really short of anything. However, I'm hoping for a Dorothy Bohm book of photos (London in the 1960s), some film (I would love some of the "new" Kodak Portra 400) and a CD or two. Most of all, a few days peace and quiet to indulge in shooting some winter scenery.

What about you guys....?

A good modern yet analogue light metre and rather than a Gakken, maybe a Zero Image ...  ;D

I always do a prezzie list for my friends and family - saves them buying stuff I don't want or need, which used to be quite often and there's nothing worse than your mum asking why you never wear that shirt she bought for you last year!

Trimmed right down in numbers and cost this year for obvious reasons but there are a few photo related things (ie books) on it:

“Street Photography Now” by Sophie Howarth, 2010
“America: From Here to There” Alec Soth, 2010
“The Pleasures of Good Photographs” by Gary Badger, 2010

If I am lucky I usually get a few things from the list, although my partner still seems curiously reluctant to buy things I might actually want.

got a few on the list.

top of it is a 10x8 enlarger.......don't think I will get that.
but most wanted is a signed copy of BIll Schwabs book.

And a few hours peace and quiet with a bottle of port in the darkroom!!

I've been thinking about trying colour again and developing it.  So I'm hoping for one of these

I'd love a glass film holder for my Nikon 9000 scanner. And a Fujipet. And an SWC, since I've been a good girl (and yes, I know it's the bad girls who really get what they want.)

But Santa never comes to my house anyway. I've always suspected that he's anti-semitic.

pretty sure i'm getting steidl's berenice abbot book set.

http://www.steidlville.com/books/781-Berenice-Abbott.html

that's probably the only photo related thing that i'm not buying for myself.

The images from that set are wonderful Sean!

I overdid it treating myself this year.  But I always ask for B&H giftcards so that I can stock up on film and such.

Well, I really would like something that looks good, that is fun and overall nice...
A girlfriend would fit the bill but I don't think you can get them at Toys'R'Us...  ;D

But a book is always a good gift.

Wiggly Braggins' book 'on tour' with snaps by Scott Mitchell.
And a lot of love.

Christmas isn't done in this village so its just a pretty normal day for most. We start the day with cake and hot drinks on the beach :-)

I thought there was nothing i really wanted but now you've made me think....:)

i'd like a half decent A4 printer, a scanner that can cope with 35mm b/w and a shiny new light meter to replace my 1960's swingometer....not much at all.

In reality I'm getting some jammies which is good too :)

Leon / Alan,

Your responses caught me on the hop. It's a bl**dy awful thing to be without work - I had a brief dose of that some years ago. I hope, sincerely, that you get your Christmas wish.

Vicky,

If you're looking for a scanner, check out the Epson "V" series. I was lucky enough to get a V750 at a good price off my friend who runs a camera shop. They're not cheap - and I'm definitely no expert at using it yet - but I've been really pleased with the 35mm and 120 scans I've had from it so far. You can even do 5x4 on it if you're that way inclined....

Well, plenty of parents shop there... and older sisters, aunts, grandmas (ok, lets forget the grandmas ;) )

I must admit, not my favorite store... I just chose it because I think it's worldwide (everybody know it).

Maybe I should try IKEA instead but I don't think getting a girlfriend in kit form isn't the best idea  ;D

It might be a good idea if there is a "lifetime" warranty.

Urban - Congratulations. Mind you, I hear from my friends who have children that they are rewarding but not easy to look after. Still, the rumour is that it's just the first 18 years that are the most difficult.... :o  ;)

I wrote a bad blog post about how all I wanted for xmas were black market mercury batteries for my Hi-Matics. I'd also like some tri-x, ektar and new portra. Also a working Hi-Matic E or F.

Due to work schedules, going to the in-laws, etc., all the kids were here today and we gathered to exchange gifts over dinner. I was more than pleasantly, if not completely, surprised to get 6 boxes of polaroid film from one of my daughters and a box of 50 sheets of 20x24 inch (50x60cm) Ilford Grade IV Fiber paper from my partner.

Wow, do I feel ever so fortunate ;-) I usually don't get indulged in such a manner.

Time to hit the darkroom !

Well, as a non-believer, I wasn't expecting a great deal. However, I was delighted to receive two signed books by Dorothy Bohm, 3 x TX400 35mm and 3 x 120 TX400, Elton John and Leon Russell's latest album, an HMV voucher and bottle of Laphroaig. I got myself a really nice SX-70 and I'm now on the hunt for some mono film for it.

As I'm on holiday until 04 January, I fully intend shooting as much film as I can and making the most of the frost / fog and other miseries that the great British weather foists upon us at this time of year.

Oh, and for anyone who's interested, I'm off to Bradford next week to see the Fay Godwin "Land - Revisited" retrospective....

Leon/Al.   Good luck with the job hunt...I was in your position 2 yrs back now.  Was stressful I admit.

This christmas I had a very empty christmas list, Its the wifes 30th in a few days and a friends Vegas wedding in April, as such i just needed cash....hollow as that is.   Cash was provided, not enough to pay for either holiday but will help a LOT.

I did relent and bought myself  Dan Woods photo book,  I think my brother is giving me the cash for that for my christmas gift...we will no doubt sort out what we bought for each other by Feb 2011...ha

Anyway Dans book is great,   check the contact page of his website for details http://www.danwoodphoto.com/

I also got a sh*t load of handmade gifts off our friends, more fudge than you can shake a stick at, muffin mix, biscuits etc.   My mom got me some aftershave im not sure i like.  And the wife, being the old romantic she is, got me a 1TB hard drive.

Yesterday I played with my brand new Bronica 645 thing...I got that free from a friend of the family.....amazing!

All in all was 2 days of family, food and playing with the neices Sylvanian families collection.  I have now been back to work since 7am this morning and christmas is officially over......   humbug

Well Damion, sound like you didn't get that bad of a Xmas after all.
On my side, I got absolutely nothing photo related this year!

A book to help improve my guitar playing and a home decorating book. A pair of slippers, a few mugs.
Having had my gift in November (it was a nice VOX guitar amp with built-in digital effects), I guess I can't complain.

Most fun was on the 24th when a local store had a Boxing day before the boxing day. I got 3 packs of 5 rolls of 200 ISO Fuji film (35mm) for only 1$ each... that's like only 20¢ a roll! Cheapest I've ever paid.

And for those looking for work, I hope you'll find some soon enough :)

Well - I havent got a job yet .. although I dont actually need one until June-ish.  I am doing some University teaching again this year january - may, so that will pay for a small amount of film and chemicals.

I did get a couple of books on sour-dough baking (whoops - wrong forum).

Best of all, I got a mac mini-display port to DVI adaptor so I can get back to using my big screen with the macbook and actually see my neg scans when I work them in photoshop. The screen has lain dormant since my desktop PC died in the summer until now.  Hooray!

Someone was kind enough to give me flu. Talk about surprised, you could have knocked me down with a feather :'(

On the plus side, I was given a new GPS. I do enjoy knowing where I take my photos and so a GPS is perfect, plots it on Google Earth and all that kind of malarkey!
