Polaroid camera and peel apart film
« on: December 19, 2010, 09:31:55 AM »
This may well have been discussed here but I can't find it.  I'm interested in getting a polaroid camera which will take peel apart Fujifilm and I am getting more and more confused.  I'm sure it's really simple but I just can't work out what type of camera for what type of film.  Can anyone help?

I'm looking for a camera with a fairly good lens but no for £100s.  I'm also thinking about putting together a Holgaroid but have no idea what type of bak would do the job.

Thanks in advance!

The holgaroid backs have doubled in price these last few years.  You may be able to find one on ebay for less?

Just saw your post so thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth..
I recently found a polaroid land camera 250 and also a Land camera 100..I paid $2.00 for the 100 and $2.75 for the 250...both in amazing condition..in fact I put in new batteries and they work perfectly (  I also cleaned the rollers)..the 250's go for a bit on ebay but I was just lucky finding mine in my local junk/antique store! They both use the fuji peel apart film...I think there are still some 100's on ebay for cheap...also the polaroid "reporter" are out there and can be had for next to nothing..Hope this was of interest to you...

Polaroid 250 or 180-185-190-195.
Or
to have the Pathfinder converted to Packfilm?
This is what I could recommend you.
Have a nice day.

Diane - I need to visit your local thrift store, I can't believe the cameras you pick up there! I'm still getting over the fact you have 14 Brownie Hawkeyes!  :o :o

Nigel! and I've given some away! I am always amazed at the cameras that show up there...being such a novice I am never sure if they are valuable..or not...
the best part is I pretty much can name my own price :)

To follow on from Miller's pointer to the recent discussion about Polaroid cams and peel apart film, you might also want to check this one out too as there's a follow-up discussion around which batteries to use in your camera: http://www.filmwasters.com/forum/index.php?topic=3514.

for a 'starter' pack film camera, the 100 automatic, 250 or 350 are excellent options.  They take the fuji peel apart films (fp-100b, fp-100c, and fp-3000b) as well as polaroid films you may find ranging from 664 to 669.

For more control over aperture/f-stops, the 180, 190, 195 (& 195 NPC) are the pro models, but will cost you more than a pretty penny. The Polaroid 600se, Mamiya Universal Press (black) and Graflex XL will also give you the option of roll film backs (6x7 & 6x9), 4x5 sheet film & 4x5 polaroid backs as well as the standard type 100 polaroid backs.

The resurgence of polaroid popularity on photo sharing sites has caused a significant rise in prices on auction sites but it's awfully easy to bide your time and find a pack film camera at a yard sales, flea markets, etc...

do a web search for "the land list" and it will give you details on lenses (plastic or glass), if it has a tripod mount, construction materials, and more.

Thank you everyone.  I feel an idiot for not finding previous discussions but I also feel well educated.  Now to get Christmas out of the way and then I'll start looking.
