Topic: shutter not working

I picked up a Bencini Koroll II very cheaply but the shutter won't open. I've been advised its probably old grease (camera is 50+ years old).. I'd like to get it going again - anyone know of a way I can get the shutter working again? Its a really cool little camera which takes half frame shots on 120 (24 frames per roll) and otherwise in great condition.

I've just bought another one in perfect working condition but it would be nice to have 2 working ones rather than leave it sat on a shelf gathering dust.. I can't bear to throw it away

If it is grease, then sometimes warming it up can get things working but it'll probably stop again when it cools down. It would ideally need dismantling, cleaning and relubricating.

I don't blame you it's beautiful!  

I rehabbed an old folding camera that had a lens completely 'cemented in place (couldn't focus) by removing and soaking for several days in lighter fluid, re-lubricating and collimating and putting back together.  You could probably do the same... if not up for that, how about considering a local camera/small electronics repair, just to see how much they'd charge?

Not sure I trust myself opening it up in case I wreck it completely, I'll try the warming up thing which if it works will at least tell me it is old grease and worth getting cleaned out.. Thanks!

Just make sure you never use WD40 as it could make things a lot worse is not handled properly.

I'm with Ann on the lighter fuel.  (that didn't come out right).

Anyway - That worked a treat on my Ensign Ful-Vue that had the same prob.
