thats more than okay Leon, I fully expected that to happen.

I am in rather a chipper mood today, brought on mainly by mental exhaustion from too many hours at work and not enough hours shooting film

hope you're well mate

All is well Ken thanks.  How was the trip to Spain?

I didn't change the subject line out of any sense of duty to the forum or morality etc - I just want to show the world how much you really love the lo-fi hipsters.   ;D

How was the trip to Spain?

Spain was great, I processed 7 rolls of film last week of the trip using the Zeiss Ikon and am trying to find time to scan some of them.

I may even venture to the enlarger tomorrow as I only have the one roll to process. Won't that be a giggle.

it's my understanding that LSI is re-releasing the entire Ikon line: 35mm, box cameras and folders. the super ikonta 532/16 remake, code named the maltese ikon, will be the flagship release.

If Lomo doesn't twink your twanky, how about a digital Holga?

I must admit to liking the minimalist design quite a lot. Only thing is I'd like to see a real viewfinder on the prototype for the sake of convenience...

I find the new holga D intriguing for some reason. A viewfinder would be nice, and it better be off quite a bit from the actual image! I wonder if they will make it so the batteries, or some other part fall off randomly unless you rubber band it on!

Caution people - let's not go down the route of discussing the finer points of digital cameras - remember the name of the site.

....but it says, "Holga" on it, so it can't be bad, right?

OK, I may have had a drink or two...so what? Do you honestly think Phil was sober when he threw himself down the stairs, naked, and then lay there on the floor until the Google Streetview van came into his house to document the layout?

On the general subject of the Lomographic Society (as opposed to Lomo cameras), please do not forget the Porsche Parable; when Porsche started making their bloated & ugly SUV, the purists complained, 'How could they possibly be so stupid, what about the sports cars?'

What most failed to realize is the moneyed-up, brand conscious, egoists, would happily pay for a badge, thereby subsidizing the company's production of cars for real enthusiasts. Some even comment the viability of Porsche as an independent manufacturer of cars, was saved by such a move.

The Lomographic Society fulfills the same niche; not better, not worse, but brand conscious sales of any film-based, or just plain photographic, product is a good thing. As long as the Look, its 43 Degrees Outside, Let Me Grab my Scarf and Diana+ and Go and Snap My Starbucks Coffee Hipsters are buying film, we are all better off.

We need to thank them for subsidizing our pastime, which may have otherwise gone belly-up... Just my take on this reoccurring theme here! See ya. Skj.

I, for one, do not believe LSI customers have a global impact on film buying that is a significant percentage of film manufacturer's sales to keep one film in stock or discontinue another and thus support the continuation of manufacturing film.

Outside of the LSI remake of the LCA & its users, I see more, for example, Diana + buyers admiring their little cult item than actually shooting with it.  Any popular photo sharing site will show the percentage of film shots in the galleries or streams of LSI cult camera users to be significantly less than digital shots in the same users stream/galleries - if they can even figure out how to load film in the 1st place.

I just don't buy that argument that 'any' company promoting film is good for 'serious' photographers - enthusiasts or pros alike.

LSI are bottom feeders, and that's it.

Its made me want to go find my nipple clamps, and on that subject I thought I would explain that they are a yin and yang set, one is made of depleted iridium with a micro quadcore processor built in so it can track and connect to military satellites so that adjustment can be made from anywhere on or off the planet.

The other is an old school manual adjustment with classic clockwise thread using a Whitworth fine 1.25 pitch thread.

I guess on this forum I should really only talk about the second one

I'm always amazed an people's vehemence towards LSI. Does it really matter all that much in the grand (or not so grand) scheme of things? Who cares what someone else is shooting, unless it's something you are interested in. Too much negative energy going around... some people have 600+ word diatribes in forums against LSI. Use that energy to do something you like!

a superb point Sean - we do seem to be spending far too much time moaning about the Lomo Soc here on FW recently.

Let's get back to wasting film.

Thread locked.
