I'm starting to wonder if at one point we won't start seeing counterfeit Dianas hit the market? (a bit like the modified FEDs which are sold as real Leicas)

Or maybe it's the new black market thing "Hey, Rico, how about a crate of Dianas for..."

A few years ago, some of you may remember, original Dianas had a brief time were they were going close to 300 bucks. Crazy, but true. * In the first book we did at Toycamera.com called "Toycamera" a blurb in the back of the book listed a price of 237.50 as the highest price seen for an original Diana. That was 2004. Crazy indeed!

I do indeed remember those crazy times, Gary. I just figured that with the new re-issues around in 2010 people would be less inclined to part with that sort of money for an original Diana. Especially when anyone who's owned a few Dianas and clones knows that it's all about the lens and that each lens is different, so you could be spending too much money on a camera whose lens you may end up not liking.

Just put it in this weekend. I'll post some shots when I develop the film early next week, as I'm quite curious how that will factor in. Worse case scenario is it was fun smashing the lomography lens to get it out ! Best case it will work sweetly.

The Polaroid listing is a trip, but at least the seller knows it's outrageous :-)

even in it's heyday of high priced the most I ever paid for a Diana was 70 USD. Back then they showed up fairly regularly in a local used cam shop. The owner was keen enough to know not to put them in the 5 dollar bin, but not keen enough to know the excess prices on eBay.

BTW Sean, the lens swap isn't as easy as I hoped when I decided to do it since the original 151 lens has a larger diameter. So it had to be shaved down a bit. But not major surgery. Soon some results to see if the mod works well enough to use!

well, as it turns out, it was a horrible mod. like a badly composed toy camera shot with the wrong focal length selected - I expected something to be in a 'sweet spot.' ;-) perhaps they were badly composed, but no sweet spot....
