Has anyone broken their piggy bank to bid on something?

Somehow, they refused my 50$ bid on a single Helmut Newton SX-70 print... I wonder why...

Francois, I reckon if we all hold back we can make a killing when nothing sells!

this one is great, but...damn!

that's one happy bankruptcy company when something valued at $10,000 sells for more than $200,000. I bet they start selling off the rest of the collection after this auction. i'm mildly disgusted that some a-hole corporate types are making a killing off of this stuff.

we should do knock-offs of our favorites!

Pick one and then duplicate it.

Yes, I know, it's been done before..... ;)

Never thought I'd spend my evening having one eye on Argentina v Greece and the other on 'live' auction Lots.

I decided to enlarge the Polaroids, because, as the wolf said to Red Riding Hood, “all the better to see you with, my dear.” Mrs Helmut Newton

I never thought I'd buy an auction catalog from Sotheby's in the first place!

13,750$ for a single SX-70 print! (the lot #19 by Helmut Newton)

And 16,750$ for a picture of Sly Stalone! (the last thing I'd honestly put on my wall)

Unbelievable!

Sotheby's photography catalogs are gorgeous.  The Polaroid Collection catalog is no exception.

The sale of the collection, however, is a disgrace.  This auction compounds the crimes of Tom Petters exponentially.
