So very excited ...
« on: May 29, 2010, 07:53:18 PM »

I've just got the prints back from my first foray into medium format with a roll of PANF that someone gave me and a ?4.89 Ensign Ful-Vue.

Miles, nice to see them here. If you click on modify for the first two images you can un-check one of the duplicates, that will remove it!

Miles...I'm glad you've got the buzz and are feeling the thrill of film again. It must take you back :-) Also, it's good to be using 120 isn't it? I actually like that second one a lot. Very 'Nosferatu' if I may say.

Looks like Mr. Wenn has sorted me out.

Speaking of which Ed ... I've loaded the Toyocaflex with XP2 and am taking it to Brighton for the WE.

:-) Yes it's dandy to be back on it.  Processing next !

And yes ... I'm liking 120 very much, I only bought the Ful-Vue for TTV so am genuinely supprised, but hoping for better quality on the Toyocaflex.

Am watch too many "real" medium format SLR's on fleabat too, that's a worry ...

You should get less grungy snaps from the Toyocaflex, but grunge is often good. The thing I've found with these cheapo 120 cameras is that they all tend to be good at one thing - maybe two. First you find what they're good at, then you decide how best to apply that to your photography....and then you go and buy another camera to do something else.

 ;)

Somewhere in there will be room for a posh MF SLR (Bronny, Hassy, Mamiya etc.) or a nice rangefinder/folder. I can just feel it!

Looking good miles. If you wanted to do some processing before you go ahead and buy the gear you're welcome to come over to chilham to use my darkroom. Don't know if you've done it before - if not, I'll give you a bit of a tutorial.

Thanks All !

Going to try and stop the shutter sticking on the Ensign and do more through it.  The winding on the Toyocaflex was worrying me today.

Leon - I'll definitly be in touch regarding your kind offer.  Thanks very much.

They have a solution for the shutter problem I'm sure.

Cheers, stripped and cleaned with Swan.  Backtogether now and firing on every click.

Chap on Flickr call "FulView" had done one before, it's one step up from a Pinhole as far as sophistication goes ...

I'm happy to see the lighter fluid trick worked just fine :)
You can't get any simpler than that.

Have loaded it with Kodak slide film tonight ready for a trip to the Design Museum on Friday, will take the AV-1 too and go out with no digi whatsoever.

It'll be like stepping out in a kilt and no undies....a thrill!
 ;)

Be wary of slide film and cheap old cameras though. Unless you intend to cross-process I find that slide film can sometimes look to 'posh' for a knackered old plastic lens. Having said that I assume the Full Vue has a glass lens? Whatever...have fun.

Plastic ?

You and your fancy foreign ways  Mr. La - Di - Da Wenn, Plastic was but a glint in the eye of a chemist when Ful-Vue's prowelled the proud parks of England.  :)

Interestingly I mailled the URL to the shots I took with it to the person I bought it off of, they were most chuffed saying it was owned by an old fella they had nursed until he died recently, it had been his from new.  Nice to have a bit of history.

Got the Fed4 with me today  :)

Can you approve my inclusion to the FW Flickr group too ?

Turrah,

Miles, you and the other 60+ pending members (some have been waiting since 2008!!) have now been approved to post photos to the Filmwasters.com Flickr group. I need to get a bit more hands-on with the group moderation required to run a Flickr group it would seem.
