You mean it's our own Ed's birthday?
And not a hint of a single gray hair to go with that!  :-X

Francois - they may be in the cake, he made this late last night as I understand!

Once we have everyone's attention we can all sing happy birthday.

Shucks!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

Thanks everyone.....despite Phil making it sound like I made my own birthday cake in the small hours of what is now yesterday morning. Well, OK, I did, but Jacqui did all the heavy lifting (as it were), so it's not like no-one cared. Just wanted to make that clear!!

 ;)

Had a pleasant evening (despite finding out that we have a Tory government again in the UK - bah!). Watched the final episode of "Life On Mars" and polished off one of my guilty pleasures - a bottle of sparkling Shiraz. Which I'm sure it the 21st Century version of Lambrusco Rosso.

Opps  :-[ sorry, Ed. Of course Jacqui was there - surely no one would have thought you were making this all alone! I mean, take one exposed peel apart piece of goop, one piece of glass, one bottle of bleach and two beers. That I know you can handle.

Belated happy birthday Ed.It was mine on tuesday as well .I spent it eating homemade cake from the wife and kids discovering the new government as well. Spooky. Was there a decree that this was how gentlemen of a certain age should spend their day?No life on mars though.

Just wondering... out of totally pointless curiosity: what was the big number this time?

Quarante cinq ,Francois. DJ middle age.Ive just got 78 left.

Hmm. ... for my 40th, not being a red Ferrari man ,I tried to get an LP that I had wanted from every year from 1965.

I wonder if I should think about doing a photo equivalent for my 50th........

Hah! So you're exactly a year older than I am, Eugene. You old trucker!   ;) ;) Obviously I had no idea that we shared a birthday though. Very cool. BTW, it's probably about time you did me another compilation. The obscure 50's rockabilly comp you gave me about 20 years ago is still much listened to...it's even been transferred to CD.

Happy birthday for Tuesday. Up the punx.

I know I still got less than a week to go before I get my turn at blowing candles. Sadly for me, mom confessed she has absolutely no idea what to get me for my birthday! So I'm starting to get a tad nervous that I would end up with some totally boring stuff... though I know she wouldn't want to disappoint me...

Ideas anyone?

Francois, stand and look longingly at [insert object of camera lust here] and sigh while your Mum watches and when she asks whats wrong just "nothing Mum every things good" and then have a little sniffle and wipe your eyes.

This should just about get the message across. failing that nick her credit card an buy some cool old gear off of ebay.

Conveniently the Camera fair is on 2 days before my birthday, so I'm sorted.

Francois, stuff the hints, just tell her what you want - mum's love us, they want to make us happy.

How about a nice 600SE (with the 75mm lens) - it takes great photos, gives you a good upper body work out and will give you that Popeye appearance - without the anchor tattoo obviously.

win win!

Sadly, I've already tried that and she saw right through me...

Thing is I've got pretty much all the stuff I need... though either a small rangefinder or a big Mamiya Press would be super sweet. But I've got to shop with what's available around here. She's not the internet shopping type and I know we've got a budget to respect...

I don't know... she told me she thinks I have enough gear... it almost brought tears to my eye. Though she's right on one point there...

Hold your resolve Francois .Like owning too much vinyl, owning too much camera gear is a state of being that does not actually exist!

What I could use is a few higher end cameras...
I have point & shoots coming out of my ears (none of them cost me more than 1$ so not much spent there... that includes my latest favorite which is still going through some tests: a Fujica DL-100 with a f/2.8 lens)

I know she doesn't want to get me anything that uses 120 film because getting it processed around here is a real nightmare...
