A dumb question regarding my avatar

How can I have an avatar ? ???
In other places you have the option to "upload from your computer" but here you have to upload from a URL... how do I do that ? :P

Create an account at photobucket.com, deposit your avatar there and then link to its location in your profile.

You can also use Flickr or Imageshack.com (my personal favorite).
They give you an URL you just paste in the box on the forum.
