I did something quite similar years ago using an old Burke&James view camera and a custom built lightbox. I had some 6x9 negatives to print... definitely wasn't as convenient as a real enlarger but it did the job surprisingly well.

The first two editions of Kodak's "The Modern Way of Picture Making" (1905 and 1907) have articles about using folding Kodak cameras (mounted in a window frame) as an enlarging device. If I have time later today, I'll scan and post one of them. Graflex made a light source and an enlarging stand for the Crown Graphic cameras, too.

The Graflex back was called a Graflarger back (very inspired name )

On Graflex.org, they say it was a green Arista cathode...

Well will ya look at that!  Thanks for posting Francois! 

I'd heard about doing contact prints just with a bulb, but never heard about using alternative 'enlarging' equipment.  Interesting to say the least!

If you'd just seen all the weird enlarging tricks that were developed over time... some of them are simply stranger than strange for us now (like the kerosene powered enlargers...)
