Shots - Weekend of 6th & 7th February
« on: February 07, 2010, 09:15:47 PM »
Hey, I've never started this thread before so if you'll humour me I'll post 4 pics. Some friends were staying and the kids started dressing up and the face paints came out...

Hey Karl, I think there's already a weekend thread underway for the 6th-7th Feb. Sean started it on the 4th - he's like that (works weekends so gets in early). However, it started kicking off on the other thread so it's probably a good job you started a new one  ;D ;D ;D

I like these shots a lot. Kids and make-up = photo op. What camera did you use and how co=operative were your models?

we were too busy watching the Superbowl to take photos this weekend!

They were pretty co-operative. There's something about the make up that makes boys keener to pose. It happened to me one night at a fancy dress night when I went as a 70's rock star but that's another story  ;)

Camera was either Rolleiflex T or Mamiya C220. It's quite a good leveller to realise you can't remember which camera it was, but I've been thinking that it was probably the C220 but I will never know for sure. Natural light from the front window.

Other info: Neopan 400 developed in Paterson Aculux 3 and scanned in PS with a neutral quadtone applied. I plan to print them up properly in the darkroom soon.

Aline, I love this shot - the 'model', the make-up, the pose are all perfect....the backdrop is a little distracting unfortunately, but I probably shouldn't level any sort of criticism at what I'm guessing is a (wonderful) family memory.

Interesting...i actually liked the structural tension between creases on sheet backdrop and lines on face in aline's shot. And yes the first of the painted-face portraits, Karl, what a knock-out.

Diane, that's a moody, evocative landscape---i think it needs a novel to go with it...!

Nice image Janet - a bit hard to see though on my laptop (too wide, and have to scroll). Love the direction the medium is going in for you.

That first one Karl is an absolute classic. I just shot some family snaps...

Nice price! Only a few made, but...

Love that GR1 flash! Both Kodak 400NC. See ya! Skj.

Hmmm, what does that translate into USD?  I've been hunting for a 185 without success (alway get outbid on auction sites)....    Loved my Mamiya Press Black but the form factor of the Polaroid 180, 185 & 195 suits me better.....

What a great snow shot...

Here's a view of San Francisco Bay from the East Bay hills---which are very green and squelchy from all the rain... (Portra 160 NC).

I like this one...  Alarming, eerie and slyly funny, all at once. Are there more?

Snewbery, hi, nop, there are no more. This is something I made for a friends contest I am participating in. This mont?s theme is about silence so I shot this one trying to recreate silence; but the result is more about tension or fear... not easy to shoot about silence. Usually what you have in mind demands too much interpretation from the viewer so at the end does not work...
