Weekend Thread: May 1-3, 2009
« on: May 01, 2009, 05:48:24 AM »
Here it is after 9:30 on a Thursday evening, so since April ends today and May begins tomorrow...why not start the weekend thread now (so does that mean we've started Metric Time?)
I've been driving our lab at work crazy with shooting lots of slide film (which is taking up much space in my freezer). It seems that the Noritsu machine we have likes print film better, so the lab folks have to do a bit of extra work to make the slides look good. Everything here was taken with a Nikkormat FTN and a Nikkor 50mm 1.4 lens. The films are Fuji Velvia 50 and Provia 100 (thel last shot was converted to a Quadtone in Photoshop CS 4).Last week's thread was really great, and I want to say thanks for the kind words made about my photos :D

this works since my weekend usually happens during the week and work happens during the weekend. took a nice drive, about 300 miles on wednesday, looking for abandoned stuff. no shortage of that in the desert!

My first contribution to a weekend thread for months! Well, I had the Land Camera 360 out and loaded with film left over from my self-portrait efforts from earlier in the week so I got the chance to take a few snaps of the kids. Here are my two faves; both from breakfast this morning. I cropped the one of Amy to a square format because there were some distractions on the right side of the frame.

Not taken this weekend but from a film that's been in my Yashica p&s for some time.

The first two from Woolacombe, the second two from the Forest of Dean.

...I like that Choc film. I have 2 packs ready to go, but have been saving them for use in my new 5x4 Tachihara. Lens should be turning up in the next few days & then I can get going.

I rreally like the way the picture of Amy is cropped. And the second picture looks like it should carry the caption, 'There's Dad with a camera again.'

Wow! This thread has been worth the 4 or 5 separate visits I've paid it thus far. Keep 'em coming. Love that last insect shot, blaxton. Fresh and vibrant. Lovely composition too. Deceptively simple-looking.

Carl's stuff is always amazing. Love that first landscape and the final two portraits.

Hookstrapped: great to see more snaps from yr dive bar series; 100% my kind of thing. What's yr camera/film setup? What's your poison during the shoots? Also have you seen Anders Petersen's book, "Cafe Lehmitz" (http://www.noorderlicht.com/eng/gallery/petersen/index.html)?

Thanks for that link.  Cool.  They are better lit places!

I'm shooting a Leica M2 with a Cosina Voigtlander 28mm/f2, Neopan 1600 pushed 1 stop to 3200.  I usually do these in the late afternoon before meeting friends for more drinking so I try to take it easy, nursing a lager so I can do my shots of Jack Daniels chased with IPA later in the night.  Thanks for asking!  :D

I was going to upload this at 2100 pixels x 2100 pixels but it just didn't look right on my 12" powerbook...
