I have a little book
« on: February 03, 2009, 10:17:21 AM »
I recently made a little book on Blurb of the images I have up at an exhibition in the island's arts centre plus a few more. I put it together it to send to my mother who doesn't want to travel this far up from Somerset in her 86th year.
I say this, not to promote the bookette - although, obviously, its nothing short of brilliant - but to say that the quality is really rather ok. I have not even opted for the premium paper. The only downside I can see is that it takes weeks to arrive.

very interesting andrea. I'm thinking of doing something similar. You may want to enter it into the Ag Brilliant Book competition ...? Can you post a link to you blurb page?

Hi Andrea, just to confirm, I was also pleased with the quality. I had a small exhibition here in town and i made a small booklet/catalogue. Link below (yeah maybe I shouldn't...  :) ).

The only thing is that i should have edited the photos better or use a better calibration.
Just to follow up from Leon's comment, on latest AG issue there's an article on a workflow for making books with Blurb - i thought it was quite well made.

This looks beautiful.

Are you satisfied with the printing quality you're getting from Blurb? Are they close to your originals?

Glad to hear some are happy with the quality, as I am in the midst of putting one together now. I will do the upgraded paper, so I will tell you all what I think. One really big suggestion I got, was to get a proof book first so you can check your image quality. Working in film means we are always scanning and I find it hard to trust what an image looks like on my monitor.

That's a VERY tasty selection of images you've put together there, Andrea. Fantastic stuff. I may just have to recommend it to everyone I know... including MY mother.

 ;)
