snowing
« on: February 02, 2009, 08:54:24 PM »
we've had a bit of a "weather event" here in the UK.  So i donned my snow boots and went out onto the black currant fields and orchards.  Nothing overly exciting to show, but it was nice to get the chance to shoot in snow that was more than a a few cm deep. any one else???

I had a large format failure. My speedgraphic's curtain shutter went to the closed position so I was happily using the lens shutter and it happily wasn't letting any light to film. DOH. I'll go out tomorrow again. It was like blizzard conditions when I went out with the camera and tripod this morning :(

There's still loads of snow here in the northern reaches of London so I can go out tomorrow hopefully. Plus it snowed all day so the footprints will be slightly filled in.

I went out today since it wasn't as cold as usual. Did manage to get 3 or 4 frames on a camera I'm testing. Still got 7 frames to go before I can see if it works fine. As for snow... not a problem and tons of it here.

To warm up your bones, tomorrow we'll have a balmy -25C plus windchill :)

OMG, Francois! That's C.O.L.D. Be sure to wear thermals!
 :D

I went out last night around midnight with a 35mm SLR and shot a film of Rollei Retro (aka AgfaPan); it was fun (if not very cold) and I hope I've managed to produce some half decent snaps. Inspired by my late night sojourn, I then went out again today just after lunch (working from home due to traffic problems all over the UK) with 2 Bronicas & made a bit of a balls-up of things. The adapted S2A with home made lens and b/w film was fine, but the SQA loaded with some precious Agfa RSXII was setup for use with my 405 Polaroid back & I completely lost the plot trying to reset the SQA for use with 120 film. Grrr.

nightmare ed,   i reckon the only way round that would be to punish the 405 back.....by selling it to me.

Its the only way you could possibly feel better about the whole situation.

They were showing pictures of snowy London last night on the news... just to cheer you up, 15cm of snow is enough to cause havoc on the roads too (even if we have mandatory snow tires on our cars...)
