In search of 120 film holder device with leader card....
« on: January 16, 2009, 10:41:35 PM »
I am curious to know if anyone would know where to find, purchase, etc., a 120 film holder device with leader card that is put through a C41 photo lab processor. I am not even sure what these things are called enough to google them. From my searches, I came up short. With the recent closing of the lab I use, along went my 120 develop only means. That was in late November and here it is early January and I have not shot anything since. While I also had c-prints made there as well, I was fortunate enough to teach, as once mentioned, the folks behind the Wal-Mart photo counter, with success, and now they make them. But they do not process 120 film. I imagine had they the film holder like that of the one used by Cord Camera, we would be in business as they develop 35mm on a regular basis through the same type of machine. But locating one is what I am after here. Again, I do not know the name of this device and would greatly appreciate any help and information. Thanks....

http://www.climaxdigital.com/fuji.html 120 Film Cassette at least for the fuji minilabs, I don't know what sort of minilab your walmart uses and I've not been near a walmart for a while.

"120 Film Reusable Cassette Round for Fuji FP 360B/AL, 362B, 362B/AL(APS), 363 SC, 560 B/AL, 561B/AL, 562B, 562B/AL(APS), 563SC " and there's a square one there too.

Wow, that is a great lead! And one that I never came close to finding. Thank you so much. Now I have to find out what model the store has and see if we can incorporate the two together after figuring out which one to use with the correct leader card. Fortunately I have a cousin who works in photo there and will see if this is actually allowed. It looks promising but have yet to spring it on them. I'll do that this weekend. I am excited. Otherwise I will have to send my film away and that takes too damn long. I can always develop my own but am too lazy. I am excited....thanks again Heather.

I know labs usually have either Fuji, Kodak or Noritsu machines.
All different cards and registering devices.

But if the lab you go to doesn't process 120, residue tends to accumulate on the edges of the rollers where your 120 film will get dragged...

Film is the vinyl record of photography.

Hmm, it may very well take 120 only they either don't know it or there are like zero people who don't use this film and therefore the devise is not needed. You are probably right anyhow but I going to try and see. I figured one lollipop is better than two. If not I believe they send off medium format film to NY....where it once was sent to Maryland for some reason. Either way will be fine....but surly more convenient had they done it themselves. We shall see. The saga continues. Thanks Francois...
