JR - Street photography with a difference!
« on: October 10, 2008, 01:56:02 PM »
I just went out on my lunch hour to see the latest exhibition by French street artist JR - (if the name rings a bell, he is often mentioned with regards to Banksy as they have the same agent.)

Totally different to Banksy - this guy shoots portraits of people with a story to tell (on 35mm 400TX) and then enlarges the resulting photos to cover whole buildings.

His site:

The latest exhibition:

It's small but worth a visit just because the film playing out in the back is mind boggling and tells you about what he does. Really though, it's the sample street art / photography pieces on the road adjacent to the gallery that is really impressive!
