Back on road with the Holga
« on: August 01, 2008, 04:11:41 PM »
Dug out the Holga, It has not had an outing in some time and went on walkabout around the Coombe in Dublin and later that evening in the Pheonix Park. I had not noticed the sunny / shade switch had moved, I know they dont work but if its not left or right fully you get a very dark corner in your images.  I had it jammed in position but it moved accidentally. For this reason I had to crop the park image slightly  but i think it worked out ok. The others are full frame or close to it.  Subject matter is not the real creative stuff you can create with a Holga but these old buildings  are full of character and I find the Holga  adds a little more to them.

eddie - I'm liking the holga distortion in the last pic.

It seems that things must go in cycles .... I've been carrying my holga with me recently too.  I hadnt picked it up for years, but recently have had the urge.  Strange that several of us are ... I wonder why?

You might not remember but I recall a time when " Starburst filters" were all the rage, lets hope they never make a comeback.  High contrast printing had its time also and I cant see that making a comeback either.  The square image is really back in fashion and getting more popular,  and also the use of   ND filters seems to be on the increase, something I think we both enjoy.   I think  Michael Kennas work   has influenced us here and a lot of other landscape photographers   as well.

I love the timeless feel of the Coombe photos . No mean feat when you consider how Cork st has become a motorway. No deer in the park shot either! Ive always wanted to shoot the old hospital facade but never made time for myself when Ive been back.

I'd bet me...Holga it's a Holga....no I wouldn't actually...perhaps that crappy Diana or something! I have some odd passport Polaroid camera that I have never used..perhaps that.

Love the images Eddie...there is always a peacefulness about your work that I always love.

Eddie, I love 2 and 4. The Holga and that building make a great team!

I'm still not back on the Holga yet, but I am now using my various Diana clones regularly, so it's all coming full circle for me too.

Sean, worth the wait!

Euge, are you the Eugene I know, or are you someone else?
