Pub Lunch

Just found these two in amongst a load of shots of the kids. I like the way they work together. Provia cross-processed.

Ooh very nice.  I like the colours especially, it gives a nice moody feel. I almost feel the urge to post my disproportionate ploughman's lunch I bought (and somewhat mostly ate)... but I can't be bothered so here's the URL to the flickr page of it http://www.flickr.com/photos/fishies_go_pook/2198020927/ Hm have just noticed the colours in mine... mine isn't crossprocessed, that's just poor lab prints :(

Awesome lighting and colors (though the little hands did gave me a fright). My xpro Provia never even turn out anything like this (the colors). Any tips?

what a fantastic picture. Love the light, colour, grain but most of all the way the 2 work as a panoramic kind of shot with a spooky hand appearing in the middle.

The hand in the middle (my daughter's) was news to me too. I didn't spot it until after I posted it here. Weird isn't it. The 2 almost work as a pano until you see the hand right in the middle.
 :)

Re Provia and xpro; these are scans from neg. If I sent them off to be printed by a lab they would look nothing like this. I always scan my xpro'd shots using the 'monochrome' option in Silverfast, but as 24-bit colour images (if that makes any sense?). This takes away a lot of the traditional 'oomph' you get with xpro, but gives back a lot more detail and a different colour palette. No post-scan colour manipulation in PS or anything either....they just kind of look like this.

Man you guys eat good. I'm glad these don't have that over saturated bullshit associated with cross processing as you say, oomph. These look like something pulled from a menu at a premier 5 star resteraunt. My spelling has been horrid lately. Good on you Ed. You are shooting a hell of a lot more than I...

Super cool. Thanks for the tips. Will try it out someday when I have another roll to scan. Love the results lots.

Ed, I was trying to do the same scanning method you mentioned but I just can't seem to find the monochrome function/option in my Silverfast SE. Any tips? Thanks

Lovely colors and detail as others have mentioned. Never xpro'd provia though I shoot it all the time. Might have to set a roll aside and give it a go.
