Hi!
« on: May 01, 2008, 02:46:47 PM »
Hello my name is Clare & I am a newbie on here, the site was recommended to me by Ailsa *waves hello at Ailsa!  :-[ * (Its Clare from GG here!)
It is so nice to find a forum that is filled with people who love film as much (probably more!) as I do!

I stole my dad's olympus om-10 when i was about 12 and have been playing with film ever since! I am only just beginning to enter the world of 120mm, having had a Holga for a few years and recently I picked up a Voigtlander Brilliant & a Lomo Lubitel at a car boot sale (fiver for the 2!) so I am enjoying playing with these too!

I also reaaaallly love polaroid & I probably use my sx-70 more than any other camera I own. My heart broke when I found out that they were discontinuing  :'(

I have recently been dabbling with developing my own B&W (in my bathroom!  :-\) so I can't wait to learn more in this forum!!

Anyways, here are a couple of pola's as a kind of introduction!:

Oh and I also own 2 retired greyhounds and judging by the dog thread (i will introduce them in there!)  I am in good company with that!

So hi! Can't wait to get to know you all!

Clare xx

Hello Clare,
I LOVE your photos, they have a really lovely feel to them and great colours.

I'm very jealous about your car boot sale find but we'll gloss over that  ;)

I hope you learn as much from this forum and its talented contributors as I do.

Janet

Hello, Claire...

Your work is quietly lovely.  Reminds me of Lilo Raymond's photography a little.  Except that middle one which is great in a different way.

cheers,

Gordon

Hi Clare - welcome to FW.

what is it about photography enthusiasts and Greyhounds?

I really like the pics you've posted so far - they show a great sense of peace.  Let's see some more.

Wow! Hi everyone, this is a nice suprise!
Thanks for all the compliments about my pola's, its what I love to do so its always nice to know that they are appreciated, especially from what I consider to be 'proper photographers!'

Janet_P - I was well excited when I found them! I normally just get crap from car boots (i.e mouldy old typewriters & various other bits of junk from the 80's) so it is always nice when you find some little gems!

Moominsean - Once I actually did buy a bit of a car boot from a car boot sale (well sort of)! I have an old golf GTI and i needed a new rear bumper, and there it was! Was well chuffed & the irony was not lost on me...

Anyway, thank you for the lovely welcome, this feels like a nice forum if you know what i mean!

No doubt i will start hounding you all with developing questions very soon.

Clare xx

Belated welcome from me too, Clare. Any friend of Ailsa's etc.

 :)

I like the snaps you posted and would love to see more. I was also interested to see that you cropped the borders and anything else which would have shouted "Polaroid!" at the top of its lungs. Good news as it helps focus attention on the image rather than the quirks of the process that produced it. Completely opposite from me, BTW. I'm all about wrinkly borders and other cheap effects

Thanks all! Tis lovely to know that you like my pics.  :)

ed.wenn - I am also a fan of the wrinkly borders & cheap effects, its what makes polaroid, well polaroid!
I just sometimes like to crop them to see what the picture actually looks like if you see what i mean. I also went through a highly annoying period where loads of people on flickr were asking me how i added the border 'effect' in photoshop (anyone else get this?)! It just seemed easier to crop the damn things in the end!
