Tally ho all!

Hope all's well with you.

Somehow came across this chap's work - I think it was following a link from somewhere.

There are 51, apologies if this is a well known site, just thought I'd share it.

I actually caught the opening of his show a few weeks back when it went up at Arthur Roger Gallery (quite well known locally) here in the city. With the exception of a few pieces, the show as a whole was just so so for me. The prints were nicely printed, but HUGE. Needlessly huge in my opinion... and though they are supposedly scans of 4x5", the prints were quite pixelated actually when looking up close. Though on a 40x60" print, I suppose the viewing distance is great enough that one isn't supposed to notice such discrepancies, but it really bothered me quite a bit to see it on pieces that I felt were stretched to such sizes needlessly to begin with.

Also, I should add that 90% of the pieces in the show I saw were from the New Orleans Katrina series, which in my opinion is not near as strong as some of his other work (the stuff from Versailles is great). Plus, I'd suppose I'm a bit biased having seen so many very similar images (my own included) for going on three years now... I guess I felt he just didn't present anything new (to me), or at least present the same ideas in a new/better way.

Just some thoughts.

Loved the photography although I have to say I thought the presentation and the quality of some of the enlarged thumbnails was a bit suspect. Well worth a look.
