I think it helped, when I wrote to Ilford, that I mentioned what a perfect fit it was for them to pick up the 55 & 665 P/N films, because, of course, those who use the films (to get the instant negatives) would likely be printing on their paper. I mean, how many photographers will be so grateful to them for saving 55 (and 665), that they become totally brand loyal? Every person who would be happy about this would, no doubt, give great word of mouth to Ilford, and every company wants that. It would be a publicity boon for them.
I think that stressing, with these companies that, not only is there a market for these films, but there is also room for growth (ie; more profits), is important.
With Fuji, I'll be suggesting that they get the formulas that made the films tranferable & manipulatable, the way Polaroids were.
Maybe we can't save all the Polaroid films, but if we can save some that will be a victory, I think.
BTW, I've tried to find Type 55 film, to stock up, and it is gone completely. Every place that had it, jacked up the price by $25 a box, and completely sold out. There was an immediate run on it. I only have 4 boxes. Sigh.
The jerk who bought Polaroid was interviewed on CBS's Sunday Morning today. He talked about, when he bought the company, what really attracted him was just the distinctive color bar logo & now that logo is on all sorts on consumer electronic products. That's all he wanted. God, what a smug ass.
