As soon as I read about Polaroid shutting down, and I saw that the article said they were hoping to find another company to license the rights to manufacture some films, I immediately thought that lford would be the natural choice to pick up Type 55 p/n & the already defunct Type 665.
So I emailed them, and below is the response I got:
"HARMAN technology Limited thank you for your email. It is nice to know that you consider us to be the natural home of Black & White.
We will be in touch with Polaroid as soon as possible to discuss the licensing of the product. We will be in contact with you to keep you up to date with the situation.
In the meantime please keep in touch with our website (www. harmantechnology.com)"
Of course Ilford would be perfect because it would also provide more, and more unique, film options for B&W users, who would then use Ilford paper.
I hope this comes to fruition. If you agree, you should write to Ilford as well. Let them know there is still a market for 55 & 665.
This would be really exciting if it happens. What better hands could these films be in than Ilford's??
