what's the difference between the polaroid 450 and 440?
« on: February 09, 2008, 04:29:38 PM »
a friend of mine showed me a polaroid 450 today and it looks like the kind of camera i may need. but what's the main difference between the 440 and 450? there's a local seller for a 440 that is cheap enough to make me want to go for it.  but i'd like to make sure it's not a mistake before i do.  reccomendations?

Have a look at a website called "the Land List" (you can google it to get a quick link to it); there is more than enough information about nearly all Polaroid cameras there (except, strangely, the 600SE).  I'm not sure, but think that the 440 is the last in the succession of x40 bellows pack film cameras with plastic lenses, whereas the 450 is the successor to the 250 and 350 which had much better glass lenses.  With the news today about the cesser of production of Polaroid film, I would suggest getting hold of a glass lensed pack film camera as soon as possible and enjoy peel apart Polaroid photography for as long as you can until all the film is gone.

thanks typh,

i did look at the landlist, but didn't see clearly what the difference was.  i may just go ahead and get the 440 until i can find a 450 at the right price.
