Weekend _ March 21, 22 & 23, 2025
« on: March 22, 2025, 04:33:00 AM »
Last ones from the Southern California fires, Altadena.  Leica IIIf with a Summaron 3.5cm f/3.5.  Mystery Easton cine film developed in beer.  This is from a bulk roll I bought at a garage sale in my neighborhood a few years ago.  It says Eastman in the edge markings and has Bell and Howell perforations which would only be on cine film.  I rated it at ISO 12 based on some test I did when I first got it but I think that may be too slow.  It is quite grainy.

Nice start Bryan! Expired films can give you some surprises, not all pleasant. I've stopped buying expired films, mainly because people think they can charge high prices for old junk.

I usually buy the expired stuff from camera shops. In my area, they usually sell those at a fairly deep discount.

I always shop at Gosselin. They don't often have the expired stuff, but when they do, it's pretty good. Last time I got a few rolls of Ilford Ortho for 12.79$.
I don't know if they still do that but I know FlicFilm used to sell roll ends for a good discount too. I have a roll of ATM400 with somewhere between 30-36 exposures on my desk right now. I just have to find the time/weather/occasion to run it through a camera.

Another one from my 2022 road trip. Pro tip: if you go to Mt. Rushmore, get there when it opens, before the crowds show up. I had the place to myself, except for the grounds crew.
Any man who can see what he wants to get on film will usually find some way to get it;
and a man who thinks his equipment is going to see for him is not going to get much of anything.
