New Widelux coming soon!
« on: July 03, 2023, 07:39:24 PM »
I just learned from a trusted source that there's a new Widelux that is coming.
Jeff Bridges, a well known fan of the camera, along with his wife and the team at Silvergrain Classics are in the process of recreating the iconic camera.
Here's the video announcement.

People who use the Widelux say they have at least two of them because they need to be repaired/adjusted quite often. I guess that's due to the complex design needed to control the speed of the lens movement according to what shutter speed you set. Maybe this can be improved in the new version. Anyway it's good to see new/revived cameras go into production.
I will stick to my Horizont, as far as I know it's the only swing lens camera that you can shoot handheld at 1/30s. The lens moves at the same speed at all shutter speeds, the timing is controlled with a variable slit opening behind the lens.

And I'll probably keep using the Spinner as it's the only moving lens camera I can afford right now.
One day I'll have to make a controlled motorizer for it though...
