Weekend - May 14 to 16, 2021
« on: May 14, 2021, 03:35:50 PM »
A quick trip to New Mexico.  Olympus XA with Tri-X developed in Rodinal 1:50.  This film went through two X-Ray machines at the airport without any sign of damage that I can see.  They were not the new machines that are supposed to totally destroy film but I kind was kind of hoping they were so I could see what they do.  I shot a short section of the film before leaving, removed it from the camera and then developed it all together when I got back so I could compare them.  The first photo is from Onalaska, Washington, not hit with X-Rays.

I probably wouldn't have shot this if it weren't for the signs.

Nice shots Bryan, can't see any fogging on those. The fog on mine are natural.

Bryan,
Cool!
People that come here always find things I have never seen.
Hope you enjoyed your trip!

I enjoyed it but it was very quick, I was only there for two days to look at a job site in Navajo, NM.  Stayed in Gallup and spent some time trying to navigate the Navajo bureaucracy in Window Rock.  I had some time to kill before my flight home so I drove down a few stretches of what remains of Route 66 between Gallup and Albuquerque.  I may end up spending most of the summer out there.

Great pictures again from everyone!  :)
Bryan, I really like your series. Never had any issues with the (old) x-ray machines. One of the customs people at the airport here in Frankfurt told me the machines they use have less impact on the film than flying at high altitude for 6 hours. Not sure, what they are using these days though. They might as well have switched to the more poweful x-rays.

I got one from a recent walk. Minolta and Adox Scala 160 (cropped to square). I really like the look of black and white reversal film. (I was considering "social live 2020" as alternative title for the image).

Wonderful images again! And two more films I've never tried (Tri-X and Scala 160)! I'm sorry this is late for last weekend.

The beginning of this probably belongs elsewhere, but...I picked up a Solida I, complete with a rangefinder attachment, sunshade and yellow filter lens for £5 in a second-hand furniture store, and found myself reaching into my pocket even before he'd finished saying "the camera's £5 mate". I used it as an opportunity to estimate distances (shots not shown here) and exposure, using an expired and sleeveless Ektachrome 100 Plus EPP, and developed in c41 by my local lab, "at the end of the day", and scanned "as is".

There's some obvious damp/damage that can be seen in the darker areas, but the I quite like the colours, and have four more when I get the time and opportunity.
